Hi experts,

I have an issue with the required part number not populating in the LOV for Manage Fault Information.

The part is in active status in the Task Card, but I suspect that the serial initialization status may be affecting this issue. If that is the reason, could you please advise on how to set the correct serial status? Please refer to the images below.

May you kindly share the insights to put this part to manage fault information field?

Thank you 😊

Hi Aravindi.

In order to be able to report a fault, you must have a serial that has at least Operational Status = Out of Operation and Operational Condition = Not Operational.

Hi @geirsigve ,

Thank you for the details. I am wondering how to set those statuses, as they cannot be edited through serial initialization.

Thank you 😊

Hi again.

If you query for your serial in Manage Serial Structure, you can use the functions Set Structure In Operation, Set Structure Out of Operation or Set Structure Operational.  I believe these are self-explanatory :-)

Hello @Aravinda.Pr

Please review the setup of the data for the mentioned part, in the following screens.

  1. Part Master ( Serial Tracking Enabled, Manufacturer and Manufacturer Part Info updated )
  2. Serial Part ( Life Limit, Manufacturer / Manufacturer Part info, Operational Parameters, Maintenance Group setup ) is completed

Subsequently the other details, Functions , Fault Functions etc need to be updated, as per the need for each part.

It’s only after these that the Serial Initialization into VIM / MRO is done.  VIM ( Vehicle information management) is setup intensive. Have only shared the key screens which are prequisites from a part level.  The setup defers/expands into more content, as per the solution needed - CRO ( Components Repair) , CAMRO (Complex assembly MRO) or AFMRO ( Airframe / Ships etc )

Hi @Aravinda.Pr

Yes, with all the above helpful comments, it should be possible to enter a record in Manage fault information page with the steps given below.

  1. Create a serial tracked engineering part in Engineering Part window.
  2. Add manufacturer and manufacturer part number.
  3. Fill the tabs in Serial part page.
  4. Create a new serial for the part using “New serial” option.
  5. If needed, you can change the statuses (in operation / out of operation / operational / non-operational etc in Manage serial structure page).
  6. **Important – Make sure to generate serial numbers when creating the new serial or at least at this stage (I think this was the missing part)
  7. Now go to Manage fault information.

  8. Create a new record and try typing your part number. Part should be available.
  9.
