It appears that the Technician Portal in the standard IFS solution does not have functionality developed for creating "No Part Requisitions" (i.e., requisitions for services or tasks that don't involve inventory or non inventory parts).

Has anyone else encountered this limitation? Are there plans to develop this feature for the Technician Portal, or are there alternative approaches for technicians to request no part services?

I would greatly appreciate any feedback or guidance on how this can be addressed within the standard solution or whether customization is needed.

Thank you!

Hi @NipunGunaratne93

We received this concern from few customers sometime back in 2020 for App 10 version, and as per Product Development (RnD):

This is clearly a functional enhancement. The reason being when the Tech Portals was implemented the scope of the project was the scope of the Apps 10 mWO project. Anything beyond that scope is an enhancement. No Part requisitions were never part of mWO (Apps9/Apps10) and if this is required this need to go as a functional enhancement. At this moment we only fix the defect in the Tech Portal and Product Management has taken a decision we will not do any enhancement on Tech Portals.

However, above decision was communicated 4 years ago, so the decisions might have been changed, so let’s wait for the input from other experts.

Hi @NipunGunaratne93 and @Thilini Kumarasinghe,

If this is a requirement from multiple customers this can be considered as an idea. But we need to understand the business scenario here and can evaluate if this can be planned for a future release.

Hi @ereslk

In cases where supplier parts are not fully set up in the IFS system, technicians often need to request service provider rather than specific parts with exact prices. This is common when services are required without inventory parts, and no specific part numbers are relevant.

Current Limitation: In the Technician Portal's Purchase Requisition creation process, both non-inventory and inventory parts are displayed, making it difficult for technicians to filter and select parts effectively. Since all parts—whether applicable or not—are shown, technicians are often unable to sort through and request only necessary services.

Requirement for "No Part Requisition": If a "No Part Requisition" option were available in the Technician Portal, technicians could request services or general costs without having to select a specific part number. This would streamline the requisition process by allowing service requests or overall costs to be submitted without needing itemized parts data, which is often irrelevant for these transactions.

Hi Nipun,

Could you please create an idea in community to consider this request for future releases.
