Hi All,

Serial Object is created via ‘Make Maintenance Aware’ screen and Operational Condition is ‘Operational’.

Ownership is ‘Company Owned’.
A requirement is to change ownership from ‘Company Owned’ to ‘Customer Owned’.
How do I do that?

Hi @GaSoGB ,

Can you explain the business case a little further? Whether the serial was used in the facility and then sold/transferred to a customer or whether the serial is sold to the customer when creating the serial object and the current location of the serial etc.

Hi @GaSoGB ,

 If the current position of the object is ‘In Inventory’ that means option ‘Make Maintenance Aware' is used only to create a dummy serial object in the system. The purpose is to allow the user to create a WO for a part in the inventory. For instance if you purchase some equipment and prior to place it in the facility you want to do some maintenance on that. Then you have to create a WO for the part in the inventory.
 Ownership of an object is not possible to change manually once it is created. You can create a  'Customer Owned' object by;

a. Selecting the ownership when entering the new record manually.

b. Creating a serial object from a 'Customer Owned' part in the inventory.

c. Delivering a part through a Customer Order with 'Create SM Object' checked.

d. Delivering a part through a Customer Order and then use 'Make Maintenance Aware' functionality.

It is not possible to change the ownership of a object without processing through a valid business scenario. Hope this will answer your issue.

Thanks ,

Nethmini

@Asitha Rajapaksha ,
Functionality is related to installation of Prepayment Meter Interface Device  at customer.
This is carried out in 2 ways.
1.By an engineer.
2.Device is sent to customer directly and customer will install the device.

Requirement is about the second scenario.
Once customer installed the device, IFS will receive a notification via an interface.
Here we carry out the following process.
1.Create a Material Requisition and a line related to the device.
2.Reserve the line (Part  is in Inventory).
3.Issue the part.
4.Use ‘Serial Maintenance Aware’ screen and perform ‘Make Maintenance Aware’ process and this will create the Serial Object.
5.Now it is required to change the Part Ownership to ‘Customer Owned’ in Serial Object.

@Nethmini Kosvinna ,

I tried to create a Serial Object manually with ownership as ‘Customer Owned’ but it gives an error saying Serial No <> is already in use for Part No. (Please refer screenshot attached).
Is there any way to workaround this without using ‘Maintenance Aware’ as Maintenance Aware process creates a ‘Company Owned’ Serial Object and we do not have control in changing the ownership.

Hi @GaSoGB ,

Can you use the below process to handle the second scenario

  1. Create customer order and add the line for the part (device) and check the create SM object check box ( this can be made default in sales part)
  2.  Release the customer order
  3. Create a service request from the header of the customer order
  4. Deliver the device to a customer ( here you can use shipment or directly deliver it through quick order flow handling). This will create a serial object with customer owned
  5. Once you receive a notification from the customer that device is installed , then complete the work using service request.

Here you create customer order & deliver the device instead of issuing it through work order.

@EqeMithuV ,

There is another scenario I need to handle as well (sorry, did not mention in the the original post).
I also need to specify the Serial Object ID as the MPRN received by third party interface instead of having a system generated one with ‘Part No-Serial No’.

So the best option for the time being may be to go with option d specified by @Nethmini Kosvinna

There is one more scenario which is relevant.

When the item is manufacured and sold in the core process via customer order ro an reseller. Later we get the information of what is the  customer of the installation site.  At this point we sell an maintenance service contract  to the end customer.

At this scenario we need / want to change owning customer from customer A to customer B  without any struggle we do not want to transfer the ownership via return and new delivery process.
