Hi all,

I’m working on the implementation of IFS GIS Map and during the presentation of the functionalities the Client raised some questions:

  • Is the IFS GIS Map integrated only with ESRI's ArcGIS, or can another GIS service be used? According to the documentation and API, I believe it only supports ArcGIS. The Client is requesting a clear answer.

  • The layers and maps created in ArcGIS are published on the server and accessed by the IFS GIS Map web application through REST APIs and URLs. How does data synchronization occur if there are updates to the map or layers? The Client's main concern is whether there is an impact if the ArcGIS server goes offline. Is this dependency present?

  • For this initial work, I created an ArcGIS Online Trial - Creator user. After this period, a new trial account must be created, and there are restrictions regarding the email and organization used. Does IFS have an ArcGIS license with a standard user for this type of activity, similar to the Owner user of the databases? Is it possible to share the credentials? Who should I check with?

Best regards,

Sorry for the late reply...

That's correct. The GIS integration and the GIS Map screen only works with Esri's ArcGIS platform.

> The layers and maps created in ArcGIS are published on the server and accessed by the IFS GIS Map web application through REST APIs and URLs.

Correct.

The geo data (points, lines, polygons)  and their attributes on the ArcGIS side is kept in Esri only and there is nothing to sync. The map updates itself as data is changed in ArcGIS.

If the ArcGIS server goes offline, GIS Map cannot be loaded and if it's already loaded, there will be no updates if any updates happen on the ArcGIS side.

There's also, or at least there was an option, to register a developer account which was more long-lived, as I remember it. Not sure if they changed that. Anyway, for internal demo purposes I can help out.

If this solution is interesting to the customer, they can get their own ArcGIS server licenses or ArcGIS Online subscription.

Even through customization, wouldn't it be possible to integrate with another GIS?
