Cloud upgrade, can we skip versions?

We are currently on IFS cloud 23.1.  I would like to upgrade to Cloud 24.1.  When I go to release update studio it will only give me the impact assessment for 23.2. I was under the impression we could “skip” upgrades and simply get the latest.  Do we need to take them in order or is there a way to just get the latest?

Azure SCIM User does not exist

23R1 Have connected installation to Azure. Directory ID is email address for the userIt appears to let me  log in but get message: IFS CLOUDYou do not exist as a user in this application Azure logs show successful log in

Oracle SDU (Session Data Unit) for remote implementations

I was seeing some Oracle waits along the lines of Sql.*net more data from client.  It seemed to be particularly bad when attaching large documents.  I ran across a tunable Oracle parameter called session data unit. It controls the packet size between the database server and the client. The default is 8192 bytes.  You can go to 65535 bytes maximum.   Both the client and server have to agree on the size or it will use the default.   On the oracle server side I added SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)DEFAULT_SDU_SIZE=32767to sqlnet.oraI then changed the connection string on the middle tier server to data: jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(SDU=32767)(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=XXX,XXX,XXX,XXX)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=XXXX))) I am seeing less errors and have anecdotal reports that uploading documents is working better as well as improved performance in general so thought I would share

Slow document attachment

Many of my users are experiencing a problem where it takes several minutes or more to attach a document. Documents are stored in the database, and these are local users to the server so not a network issue.  They are in chrome with the appropriate plug in’s and are browsing to the documents. Running 23R1 Update 7

Crystal web server instances

I have created 4 Crystal web server instances on our  print server. We seem to have some delays printing particularly  if someone sends multiple print jobs. What I have noticed is that nothing is ever logged in anything but the first instance. Can anyone else with this setup say if it is expected behavior? How do you know the other Crystal instances are being used?

Refresh test while maintaining passwords

Using 23r1 I’m attempting to refresh my test instance. We are using the internal password keycloak system as many of our users don’t have email etc.  When I refresh test by doing a data pump export/import we have to reset everyone’s password. Is there  a way to refresh the data in a test environment without losing the passwords?

Scheduled SQL report formatting

When we schedule a Sql report it comes through with a lot of unnecessary formatting that makes the resulting spreadsheet impossible to use.  All of our financial number fields have a carriage return and spacing. The reports export fine within IFS. Is there a place to tell  the system to send scheduled quick reports as data only?  This was not the previous behavior in Apps10 We are 23R1 UPD7

Crystal Report server issue

AssystWeb and ITAM

We have meshcentral working in ITAM. Is there a way to tie it into AssystWeb so we can get there directly from a ticket or a user? Can we create a link that takes us from the ticket or user to the ITAM inventory item?   Note- we were actually able to figure this out. We can import the URL from ITAM and then just click on the mesh central link

Crystal Reports Web Service Setup Problem

LOB Storage

Currently on APP 10 update 17.  Working on our upgrade to IFS Cloud 23 R1Our database is  1.3 TB and the vast majority of that is LOB  documents etc.  It’s growing rapidly.I can do a datapump export in about 2.5 hours but importing is taking about 15.  I knocked it down from 17 hours by tuning and splitting the LOB datafiles onto multiple drives. I’m going to continue work on hardware solutions but I don’t expect that to make any big difference.We are going to remain on premises.  I’m considering moving the LOB storage to an FTP server as aside from the upgrade taking forever I have fears regarding time to do a database restore etc if that was necessary. Wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone had any experience or other ideas

Mobile interface for agents

We are trying various methods to enable agents to handle tickets from their mobile devices and have not had a lot of success. I was wondering if anyone could share what they are using for this purpose.We are having the best luck using the desktop version of assystweb but it requires a lot of pinching and zooming

assystweb login delay

When attempting to log into Assyst at  /assystweb/application.do we are seeing a 20 delay before getting the login screen. Once past that it works fine.  Logging on to  /assystnet/#homepage does not have a delay, it’s pretty much immediate.

Changing existing part number schema

We are considering changing our part number scheme.  This, obviously has huge consequences as we would lose all history, reporting would have issues etc.  Has anyone ever needed to do this or found a good solution?

Assyst Database selection

We currently run IFS on Oracle using the ASFU license. We are putting in a very small Assyst installation with <400 users If I install on Oracle then the help system will fail if there is a problem with our production database, obviously not idealI considered sql server express but the documentation says it is “not recommended”.  I wondered if anyone knew if there was a specific technical issue or if it’s more of a sizing issue

Not enough material when receiving

When receiving on the workbench IFS gives the rather generic error “not enough material has been issued”  What is the easiest way  for shop floor user to specifically identify which material is the problem?

Company Credit card import file

I am trying to set up the credit card integration for expense reporting. The default File_Reader1 is taking in the file when it’s place in the in directory  but then it does not appear in credit card transactions or any logs I can find. I feel like I’m missing a step as there is nothing to tell the system that this import is a credit card file.

Backflushing from multiple fixed locations

We have raw material stored in bins that feeds several machines. We want to be able to backflush from the correct bin for that group of machines. Lot tracing is important. So raw material A  lot number 1will be placed in location 1 and feed machines A,B, C. Raw material A lot number 2 will be placed in location 2 and feed machines D,EF. What would be the easiest way to make that happen correctly in the system

Oracle Index issues

My SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer is reporting some specific indexing issues. This one caused 41m 25s of wait time in 63 different queries  I wonder if anyone has had any success tweaking indexes in IFS?  Index: MATERIAL_HISTORY_IX2 (in IFSAPP)
