@sutekh137 That is a very good question for one of the R&D guys, I don’t know either. “I really like IALs “Don’t get too attached to them, they are removed in IFS Cloud. We still haven’t got our hands on a Cloud environment to figure out the new tech that replaces the concept.

@SaraCrank Worst case, I think...the info just sits there. The background job info being there four hours rather than 10 minutes to me is useful for troubleshooting. Yes, it means there are more to sift through, but for me, more info is better for forensics. The Foundation1 Session info could be problematic if you were close to license limits or you had lots of individuals who hop around from one terminal to another to login and there is a delay in their session cleanup. For that one, we have a separate job we created and run every 2 minutes to kill any idle sessions that are causing blocks. For the IAL refresh, we have those on their own schedule most of the time and don’t rely on the Light Cleanup to do the work.

Every 10 minutes seems way to frequent to me. Ours is set for every 4 hrs, we don’t notice problems with that much slower pace. We have higher frequency jobs to see if there are things to do (check for new parts transferred from PLM every 5 mins, check for new invoices to process every hour, etc). But haven’t found the need to remove things that frequently.

Does someone have any experience on connecting PLM with IFS? Here is a bit of description of how we’ve done an interface, but in a slightly different context. I will say, it took two years to have the interface written the first time by a third party consultant and we then had to re-write it ourselves to go from V8 to V9 which took another 6 months. So the undertaking of a full interface is not a small thing.

Thank you for your answer, is there a possibility to connect this engineering part to an existing Work Center, with a routing? OUr idea is to create Engineering Part during the RFQ phase and R&D phase, and we would like to see the Work Center machine and Labor Load in the S&OP. I think you are only going to be able to do this if you are also creating the inventory part along with the engineering part. It is possible to do so, but means your quoting engineer will be dipping into the manufacturing side a bit.Another possibility is to add a persistent custom field on the engineering part that allows picking the work center and setting a time, but in our experience on the quoting side, a generic field for mechanical and electrical time that later gets broken down to the actual work center time works better.

API for updating currency rates in IFS

Exciting stuff, thanks for sharing. I plan on trying this out in QA in the next week or so. We have 4 companies updating rates, so this might be a great time saver for 3-4 people.

Look at the PO line for Inv Conv Fact column for that line on the PO. If the Supplier for Purchase Part doesn’t have the setting, it is still possible to change the PO itself manually. This would drive the inventory quantity from the PO receipt.

Good afternoon, I discovered this Engineering Part between Master Part and Inventory Part. In which way do you use Engineering Part? Part in Developpement phase before to land to the plant and to be created as Inventory Part? thanks for your support. Yes, the Engineering Part is typically used only by the Engineering group to create products either as single part number representations (if buying a commercial part) or as a structure where multiple parts go together to make a product (either purchased or manufactured). Master Part is always the top level and must always exist. Inventory Part is the manufacturing version of a part and holds all of the attributes and information needed to procure, store, manage, cost, and deliver to customers. The Inventory Part is child item to the Master Part and there is one Inventory Part record per IFS Site so the part can be managed differently in each site.Engineering Part then is also a child to the Master Part, but used in a different manne

Printing/Saving Documents attached to a Structure

HI @holae @ShawnBerk It could be done by attaching the relevant documents to the top part (level 0). And once the are attached they can all be seen, and the changes will also be reflected since it is a reference to the document within the child parts. That isn’t a feasible solution for a BOM structure that has more than 1000 child items with hundreds of drawings. It would require double work to add each item to the parent structure, then if the one or more of the child items are used in multiple parents (as many parts are), then it would mean duplicating the attachment for the number of occurrences the item is used.No, the only solution will be to find a way to work down through the BOM structure from the top and extract a list of all of the document revisions for the structure, then export/download that list to the drop site. I don’t see a solution within the IFS provided tools.

How was the line invoiced and closed if the supply code was shop order and the shop order wasn’t finished and received? Did someone re-open the shop order after the line was delivered?You are through some one-way doors here that can’t be undone, but I’m not sure how you got to where you are….?

You don't have a choice in this case though. This is good info to know. Thanks, there is no problem splitting out certain documents to a particular class and managing them differently, it is the ‘knowing’ that it needs to be done that way that is the problem.

@Mathias Dahl For us yes, FTP became a necessity because the document repository size was causing backups to take so long it was outside our maintenance window tolerance.

Is it one user only or a group of users? If it is one user, I would first check that their personal profile hasn’t been changed or corrupted. I have had occasion where I had to restore a personal profile from an older backup. You could also clear the users 2.0 folder and force a clean download of information. If it is a group of users, then check the base profile and see whether the base has been changed or updated recently. For a group, I’ve not seen a loss of information unless the base profile is changed.

Business Roles in IFS Cloud

OK @Sajith D , thanks for that, at least I know where it is located. Not particularly concerned that it is in the same place (Sites moved too, though not as far). Just trying to gauge my level of relearning that is going to be required to upgrade. I’m already assuming that IFS Cloud is going to make our organization far less efficient before it makes it better.The lack of a RACE environment and a definitive training for IT professionals is going to make the initial upgrade take 18 months or longer to accomplish. That is a very hard pill to swallow.

Bill Only Invoice for Physical Product

No...definitely not using the original sales part or even another customer order unless you credit the original order in full and re-bill in total. We do this a lot for entire orders in a separate non-inventory site rather than the actual inventory site. There are several ways (instant invoice, credit and re-bill, and others) to adjust the customer account for their total owed without affecting the inventory itself. If you go that route, you should do an RMA first to return the inventory, then reship the item returned.

Error Message: Object modified by another user

There are a few instances I know this will occur with a single user editing the record.The most common one I see is adding or editing a Note attached to an object (customer order is the classic), which gives no indication that an edit has occurred and the record is ‘dirty’. Then the user goes to another field or another tab and attempts to save the second update which is clearly an edit due to the different text color. This will always generate the error in my experience.There are a few views that have sub-level tabs (customer is a good example) where a change to a sub-tab can be made (Delivery tax or Document tax), then you are able to navigate to another tab without being prompted to save your change. If a second change is made on another tab that is a different logical unit, you will get the save conflict again because it is the same record, but tied to two different LUs and IFS doesn’t say - well you changed the record in two places yourself - as it really should.

IFS - MRP Requisition Approvals

Create and approval workflow through DocMan to require and attachment of a particular document class that represents the approval to the requisition. Set up approval groups tied to the approval template. Create an event to block the release of the requisition or the change of requisition to an order unless the approval is completed. We are working on a building a similar type process now. I don’t have all the details but am pretty sure the possibility exists. We are on V9 and not using the authorizations within IFS because they work at the line level on the Purchase Requisition, but we require the authorization at the total value of the requisition.

The fastest way to do this if you have more than a 1000 records on the screen is this sequence.Select a recordCtrl+End (to go to the last record in the list, this saves the page down method and partial loading of records by forcing the auto-load of all of them)Highlight the last RecordScroll to the top record, hold the Shift key, then select the top record

Hi @Wimali Athulathmudali It does seem the info card picks up the Valid From date on the addition as the Last Transacted date. I entered the info manually again while monitoring in Debug. It shows the transaction date as now, when the item being updated hasn’t been transacted for quite some time. This statement comes a couple of lines before the info card update, which must be where the date is coming from on the Date CreatedShawn
