Alternate part functionalities for purchasing and planning

The option to Plan Alternate Component in MRP pertains only to the situation where primary part A has demand originating from a parent part(s), i.e., when A is seen as a component. If B is set as an Alternate Component of A and B is set to Include During MRP, on-hand inventory of B will be considered as supply before generating any supply required of A.When a customer order line is entered for part A, MRP will see the demand from the CO Line and plan supply of A accordingly. MRP will not examine the availability of any alternate parts. You might want to setup Alternate Sales Part Base Data, where B can be defined as an alternate sales part for A. With this setup, and running Availability Check, if there is not enough A to satisfy the required quantity on the required date, you have the option to substitute part B for A partially or completely on the customer order. When an alternate purchase part has been setup, this simply allows you to add/change a purchase order line from the primar

@matt.watters I believe many customers would benefit if it was possible to add a rework operation to a shop order for a partial quantity, and also to be able to follow up this cost separately. I don’t recall having seen this being requested in any official channel, so please consider creating a request on the community Idea section! @Björn Hultgren I just entered it.

Applying rework labor without a rework shop order

You could add an operation to the SO as needed for this purpose. The drawback to this approach is the operation quantity for the added rework operation is for the lot size of the shop order, assuming no op scrap reported yet. Customer may need to only rework 2 on a lot size of 50. Affects costs, operation run time, scheduling, etc. Need to have capability to add an operation for a discrete operation quantity.

Lock part number from buying

On either the Part Revision or the Revisions tab of the Inventory Part, enter a Phase Out date for May 2022. If a PO line is entered with a date for which a resulting receipt/supply/arrival date falls after the Phase Out date the system should return an error stating it could not find a revision for the part and the PO line cannot be saved. This also is from Apps10, but phase out dates have been around forever and it’s assumed this logic existed in Apps75 also.

Hi Matt, I am a bit confused and I must ask (because of your update): is the problem resolved? I also did not get the problem you described. If you connect a document to only one particular object (a license in this case), that document is only “visible” (seen as connected to) on/from that object. The document can of course be found by searching for it in Document Revision or other screens, as long as you don’t make it Restricted. Unless, that is, you have some Object Connection Transformation rules that will make the document appear in other places. I probably have misunderstood your question though… @Mathias Dahl Here is the current configuration of the LU and the Object Connection. Here is one Employee with two unique Certificate IDs. There are no documents connected to either record.I attach document 1001832 only to the record for Certificate ID TA0718-17.When I select the record for the other Certificate (TA 1291-15), it ‘shows’ the same document as attached.At the document re

MRP - Action Messages

I have seen this error message if a structure has component parts of type manufactured which do not have any buildable structures. So even if your BOM is in buildable state, this error message could be triggered. Did you cross check all your component parts in the BOM? @Tharindu Fernando have you seen this message for only the single-level BOM components not being buildable or have you seen it for components at lower levels also?

How to cut one serial number (part A) into two serial numbers (part B)?

You stated #There is no way to issue on Shop Order (lot size = 2) just one piece of A and receive 2 pieces of B.I have never tested it with serial FG, but does Simplified Material Check at receipt allow you do the above? I’m going to assume it doesn’t as part B is a discrete serial, but maybe give it a test.Edited - tracked structure of one of the serials of B will be incomplete.

I don’t think template functionality was available in 7.5. For 7.5 try RMB-Properties on the Requisition and if there is a Default or Defaults tab available you could set a default value this way. Templates (Apps 8?) replaced this old method of setting default values on forms.

Check if the material line is connected to an operation. Then check if this operation has an operation quantity less than the shop order lot size due to scrap at a previous operation.

Cannot Receive handling unit out of Shop floor workbench for shop order with 2 operation lines with back flushing material.

First thought is you have not reported the required total of 100 complete on the first operation. In the Approve Operation dialog, you can use the ‘Report Previous Operations’ to accomplish this.

Yes, you can configure the Part Transfer Template to create a new inventory part revision for each new Engineering Part Revision.Create Part Revision for each Eng RevisionIf this check box is selected, it indicates that new part revisions will be created for each engineering revision. This is only applicable for expense, purchased and purchased raw parts.
