Whenever we have odd little glitches like this, we always try clearing the OnlineAppCache as a first attempted to resolve it.. Log into windows on the machine that’s having the problem Do not log into IFS (i.e. make sure no IFS windows are open at all) Hold the Windows key, and press R to open the run dialogue box Type CMD and press enter to open a command prompt In the command prompt type (or copy and paste) the below command and press return to execute it rundll32 dfshim CleanOnlineAppCache Then just wait for the process to finish Next time you log into IFS, you’ll see the “Downloading feature pack” dialogue whenever you open a new window, but hopefully the issue will have been resolved.Kind Regards,Robin
In Backwards Scheduling, the need date of the shop order is what drives the start and end dates on individual operations. For example…If a shop order has a need date of 12/09/2020, and has 3 operations, each with 1 day of work content…Operation 3 will be scheduled to start 1st thing in the morning of 11/09, and finish at the end of the day on 11/09 (i.e. it would finish in time for the shop orders need date).Operation 2 will be scheduled to start 1st thing in the morning on 10/09, and finish at the end of the date on 10/09.Operation 1 will be scheduled to start 1st thing in the morning on 09/09, and finish at the end of the date on 09/09.Notice, that when using back scheduling, the star date on some operation can end up being in the past (indicating that you should have started working on this earlier if you wanted to achieve the need date) In Forward Scheduling, IFS work from the earlies possible start date to schedule the individual operations. It might be possible to resolve this with some very careful mouse positioning. If you Right click immediacy to the right hand side of the + icon, you can open the column heading context menu and therefore gain access to Column chooser to re-enable one or more columns (or alternatively you can select reset current view). You have to be pixel perfect with the right click to open the required menu (it will likely take several attempts).Note to IFS: It would be a good idea to build a check into the Column Chooser dialogue box, so if a user tries to turn off every column, an error message is displayed preventing the user from getting themselves into this situation.
A point of note: When you calculate the lead time from a routing, the resulting lead time is stored in the “Manufacturing Lead Time” field on the Inventory Part screen, acquisition tab. MRP uses the lead time shown in that field. It’s possible to manually enter a lead time directly into that field, rather than doing the calculation from the routing if you prefer.
Thank you very much Paul, your answer solved my issue perfectly. In my original post I implied that it was a custom field on the Document Revision screen that we needed to access but that was just a simplification on my part. The documents in question will acutely be connected to a lot batch master, and it was a custom field on that screen that we needed access to. Changing the View on the “Object Connection” screen to point at LOT_BATCK_MASTER_CFV allowed me to add the custom fields on the “Object attributes for macros” screen, and after that it was just a case of setting up the template document to pick up the required field.Thank you very much for your help!
I work for a group which uses Apps 9 in some companies, and Apps 10 in others, but we have not performed an upgrade from Apps 9 to 10.If you’re using the Aftermarket/Service module in Apps 9 you might have some challenges in transferring that to Apps 10 as I believe there are some quite significant changes in that area of the system (If I recall correctly, the Apps 9 “Crafts” function has been removed completely, and is replaced by a new Resource management system in Apps 10, and I think there were other quite notable changes in this area too).From a user perspective however, the Enterprise Explorer changes are quite subtle really, so the learning curve isn’t big a challenge. We had the same issue (i.e. IFS NCR and CAPAs don’t follow the industry standard 8D approach).We considered a Custom tab similar to that posted by PEBUNL , but ultimatly decided on a simpler way forward...Our very basic work around was to create an 8D report in Excel, and save it as a template document in IFS Doc Man. We use a DocMan Macro so when a user create a new 8D report connected to an NCR, it auto populates some of the excel doc with data from IFS (e.g. the NCR number, date, etc).We then update the Excel doc as we progress though the 8D process, and use a single action on the NCR to reflect the progress at a quite high level.(i really wish IFS would provide an 8D solution out-of-the-box - maybe they’ll introduce it in a future version if enough users ask for it ;-)
Thank you for the reply!Sorry, but i dont think the “Engineering Part” tab on the “Engineering Part Revision” screen shows anything relating to the Characteristics.The below diagram might help explain what we’re trying to do…We do not connect characterisics on the Part screen, as that screen has no revision control system.Instead, we’re connecting the technical class to the “Engineering Part Revision” as that is a revision controled record (i.e. it has a Revision No and Status Field). If we need to change the data held in the Characteristics, we would 1st create a new Engineering Part Revision. That way, when we look at RHU-TEST-111 Rev. 0, we see the characteristics that were applicable to that revision of the part, and when we look at RHU-TEST-111 Rev. 1, we see a newer set of charicteritics data. I then created a new part called RHU-TEST-222, and want to use “RMB, Copy Services” to copy the characteristic data held against Engingeering Part Revision RHU-TEST-111 Rev. 1, into the new

On the “Product Structure” screen, the “Multi Level Structure” tab shows similar data to the Product Structure Graphic screen, and can be output to csv using the standard output channels.To configure the output channel...Click “Output” at the bottom of the screen, then click the Add… button This opens the Configure Output dialogue box. In the Name field enter CSV, and ensure Generate File of Type is set to “Comma separated (CSV). All other settings can be left at their default. Click Create.Once the output channel exists, you can RMB on any table view within IFS (e.g. the Multilevel Structure tab on the Project Structure screen), then select Output, and CSV.The CSV file will then open in excel (assuming you have excel set as your default app for CSV files). In Apps 9 and 10, there is a field on the Customer Order screen for Picking Lead Time (it’s on the Delivery Information tab). If you add 3 to that field, I believe MRP will create the 3 day buffer you require. As i understand it, when MRP creates a Shop Order Req, it calculates the need date by taking the date from the CO line, then subtract the “external transport lead time” (if specified), then subtract the “picking lead time” (if specified). I assume equivalent fields are available in Apps 8? This might give the require result, rather than specifying it at Site level?
I fully agree with Arunalu’s reply. I would add that after opening the “Part Catalog\Master Part\Parts” screen, you should check the column chooser settings before running the output (the output will reflect the column chooser settings so if any columns are hidden, they will not appear in the output).
On the Master Part record (Part Catalog), the lot and serial settings both have “sub-opitons” which might help here… Instead of setting the standard “Lot Tracked” setting, it’s possible to select “Order Based” lot tracking. This setting will cause IFS to automatically assign lot numbers upon receipt into inventory, based on the order from which the part originated (if it came from a Purchase Order, then the lot number will match the PO number, Line No, Del No and Receipt No, but if the part came from a shop order, then the lot number will consist of the shop order no, rel, seq, and receipt number). Such a setting will remove the need for the goods receipt personnel to have to manually enter a lot number, but still gives the advantages of lot-tracking). Furthermore, if serial tracking is enabled it’s possible to set the serial rule to “Automatic”. This will cause IFS to automatically assign serial numbers upon receipt of parts into inventory. The fact that IFS has so many different task/action systems throughout the software does indeed present a bit of a challenge here. Out solution has been to build a start page, with saved searches for each individual task type. The user can then monitor the qty of each type of action assigned to them. Under ideal circumstances, each saved search would show a count of zero (indicating that they don’t have any tasks/actions at all) but as soon as something is assigned to them, the specific counter would increase. Clicking on that counter would then take them to the applicable IFS screen from which they can deal with the action(s). To send the output of a SQL based quick report as an excel attachment to an email, i would suggest the following…In IFs Enterprise Explorer, open the “Explore Quick Reports” screen from the navigator Find the report in question, RMB, Export to excel… (If the quick report has filter parameters, enter the applicable data) You can then save the excel file somewhere (e.g. your desktop) then attach it to an email and send it.Hope that helps!
In Apps 9 we built custom event to do this. It’s triggered by the RMB option to print the PO and performes the following setps…Creates the PO output doc and saves it in docman, Searches for any doc’s connected to the parts being ordered, and any docs’ connected directly to the PO line (both part lines, and also no-part lines) Creates a document transmittal, and sets the receivver to the applicable supplier Adds the documents found in step 2 above, and the PO doc created in step 1 above, to the newly created transmittal Sends a streams message to the user that clicked the RMB, with a link to the transmittal.The user can then zoom to the transmittal via the streams notification, review the connected documents, and if everything looks to be in order, they can process the transmittal. When I open Aurena in Firefox, it displays a banner across the top of the screen stating that this is an unsupported browser, and that i should use either Chrome or Safari instead.Does this mean Chrome and Safari are the only “officially supported” browsers for Aurena (suggesting that MS Edge is not supported for example?)Despite this message, I found I was still able to use Aurena to create some inventory parts and product structures (so maybe it works ok, despite it being “unsupported”?)We could really do with a formal answer to this one from IFS themselves, so we can avoid any potential issues that may arise due to us using an unsupported browser.

Since IFS are removing EE from the next major release of IFS, we don't really have any choice but to embrace Aurena. I should probably have said in my original post that we’re running Apps 10 Update 9 at the moment, and will be installing update 10 in the very near future. Since Aurena is evolving with each update, it’s possible that some of my above listed points will be addressed via that update, and hopefully that pattern will continue with future updates too.As you suggested, I will continue to approach Aurena with an open mind!
As far as I know, when you auto reserve parts to a CO line, IFS uses a FIFO approach (i.e. it just picks the oldest lot batch) but doesn’t discriminate between lot/batch number, or product structure alternate. As far as the reservation process is concerned, if the part number is the same, then the product is identical. I don’t know of any way to link a lot/batch to a customer, or customer group but here’s a few ideas that might help... Pegged Shop OrderIf the parts in question are manufactured via a Shop Order, you might consider pegging the Shop Order to the applicable customer order line. I assume someone is manually editing the Product Structure Alternate on a case by case basis to align it with the specific customer requirements, so that user could also peg the Shop Order at the same time. When parts are received into stock from a pegged shop order, they are instantly reserved to that Customer Order line (removing the need for a user to reserve them).Alternatively, you could set th
Are you working in Enterprise Explorer or Aurena?As far as I know, Enterprise Explorer follows the column chooser settings when tab is pressed (i.e. it moves to the next editable column in view) so you could configure the Sales Qty field to appear immediately after the Sales Part field. EE also has a “new after” setting, which causes tab to create a new record after you reach a specific column.My Aurena knowledge is a little limited, so I’ll leave it for someone else to advise on that (maybe the projection can be edited to gain control over this?)

I assume the invoice layout your using has been custom built as part of your initial IFS implementation (probably as a Crystal Report)? For document text to work correctly, it has to be expressly coded into that report. It’s possible your output document will need to be edited in line with the specific doc text use cases you explained above. I would recommend the following test: Print the invoice using the default IFS layout, instead of your companies layout. If the doc text is shown as expected on the IFS layout, it would confirm that you’ve set up the doc text admin correctly, and that the issue is with the bespoke invoice layout. Start pages [Anmise]: Honestly didn’t know they existed on Apps10. What are you missing when comparing with lobbies?While lobbies are a great visualisation tool, they typically need a tech consultant to build them (i.e. someone with SQL knowledge). Start pages had the quite significant advantage of being easy for users to create and edit themselves. Users can create saved searches on any IFS screen, then add that saved search to their own start page. That search is then shown with a “count hits'' alongside it. I think empowering users to configure and update their home page in this way is great for increasing efficiency. Doc macros [Anmise]: Macros are available in Aurena.
