Hi, On the SmartClient, Is there anway to loop through the notes on a Project (same would apply to Request) within a ClientScript? For context, i am writing a validation script fired from the pressing the save button on the SmartClient. I can retrieve the saved notes from the database, but i want to compare them to the notes that are on the screen to see if any have been updated. If i use getControlValue() it just returns the values fron the first note in the list. Secondly, can i create new Tasks and Events from clientscripts on the SmartClient? Thanks
Hi, What would be the best way of selectively locking fields on a screen on the SmartClient? I am trying to disable certain fields on the project screen depending on the project status. This script below almost works, but diesnt lock the Notes tab records. Is there a better way of doing this? essentially, if the project is approved, the details cant be updated by everyone, only certain people (who use a different project screen).We cant use the app param ‘FREEZE_PROJECT_APPROVAL_STATUS’ as some people will be allowed to update but not others. Hi, Seem to be having an issue with Business Rules not executing in the correct order. I have two Custom Processes on the same table (TASK_TEXT) one updates a record using XML, the other sends out a notification based upon this update. They both have the same execution point (Commit read or insert) and the execution sequence for the update is a lower number than the execution sequence for the notification, yet the notification goes out before the update. Any ideas please? Thanks
Hi,We wish to use barcode scanning in our Mobile app. The app referenced in the manifest file: com.google.zxing.client.android is not available for our device. So im using the XML below to add REQ_GROUP to new Tasks, works as expected, but generates an error where there is no Request, i.e. Project Task. It doesnt seem to affect anything, but how do i capture this and not run the update? Hi,We havbe an issue whereby the Mobile Device IFS6 u16 doesnt rename file attachments if they are a .docm file extension and they have ‘id_XXXXXX’ (Task ID) at the start ofc the filename (Which gets added by the smart client). The result is that if the filename already exists, the new file attachment on the task will point to the older file with the same filename. JPeg files for example are not affected the same way. Is this a bug? or a ‘feature’? the only work around is to manually rename the file on the device before reattaching it, but sometinmes our engineers forget to do this, and they use the same offline file on their device for multiple tasks (its a test results form) Is there any setting or config we can alter to change this behaviour? Hi, Trying to create a business rule that fires from table TASK_TEXT, but need a value from the REQUEST table. Tried to set up a join in the custom metadata, but wont let me map from TASK_TEXT to REQUEST? How should i go about this?Tried to do it another way by setting up a USER_DEF field in Task text to store the REQUEST_ID but cant see how to get it to do that? Any suggestions please? Martin
Hi All, What is the real purpose of the product structure? We have all our products set up in a structure as suggested initially, but it seems to have no use whatsoever. Am i missing something?The only practical purpose i can think of is for tracking parts through the stores/van places etc, but we dont do this. The issue we have is when we want to select a product on a request, the selection form just lists all of the products in one list without the structure applied, but inlcudes all the hierarchy product records which only exist to provide structure, i cant see anywhere in the app where you can ‘browse’ to a product by navigating the structure, all the product structure form seems to do is tell you the parent? What am i missing?We now have to add circa 1000 products to around 700 places, so they need to be easily found by the users. From what i have seen, the best way is just a flat product list with no structure but well defined product_id’s or asset_ids allowing them to be sear
We had an issue a while back where if a new attachment was created/added with the same file name as a previous attachment, then the file would be overwrittten and all previous attachments would show the new file. We thought this was fixed in 2018 (by the Task ID being added to the file name of the attachment) however it seems not to be the case. Sometimes the Task ID gets added, but often not (See attachment) Why is this behaviour inconsistent?
Hi All, After doing a bit of testing today, it seems that The Initial queries on each Sync rule, brings in data for each of the Tables in the query. For example, the TASK sync rule initial query might bring in 2 tasks, and the REQUEST sync rule intial query might bring in an additon 8 as it uses the Task table in its initial query. This makes it some what hard to determine where tasks are appearing from on the device. So i am thinking what would happen if i erase ALL of the initial queries in the Sync Rules and just create one big one on, say, TASK that pulls in all the Data we need? Maybe an impractical approach, but would it work in theory?Any thoughts? I am thinking it would be much easier to maintain the Sync Rules this way and i can keep data on the device to a minimum. Note: Sub Forumn may be wrong for this, only gave me 4 options
Longshot i know….what is the likelyhood of a workflow in FSM Mobile picking up the incorrect Task ID from a getCurrentKeys("task", "task_id"); call? We had Task notes appearing on the incorrect Task (a Task that had been completed a week earlier)
Hi, I want to make attachments read only on the mobile device. We are using the new Attachment API screen in FSM6u16. How can we make the screen reado only, so that the user cannot add any more? Thanks
Doing some mobile IFS6 u16 testing on a emulator, run into a strage issue with Mobile attachments. 1.Assign a task to a device2.Once recieved on the device, go offline3.Add a Task attachment on the device4.On the smart client, complete the task5.On the device, go back online and sync6.Observe on the smart client that the attachment has not synced back, even though all other notes etc do.7.Repeat with a fresh task, but DO NOT complete task on smart client8.Observe that attachment does sync back to smart client It seems after doing some testing, that Attachments on a device DO NOT become persistent records on the device UNTIL it has synced with the smart client. If the Task on the smart cleint is complete, then the attachment is simply discarded, if not completed then it does become a persistent record on the mobile device once synced. Any clues why it behaves like this?
How do we get the mobile device to ‘remember’ the last used file location when attaching files to the attachments screen? It always defaults back to the root

I have always struggled to get Sync Rules working correctly so have largely avoided modifiying them. However, i need to modify the Task one as we have an issue whereby when a person gets tasked to a new Task, they only see Request Notes added after they have been Tasked. We need them to get ALL the Previous Notes for that Request.How i understand Sync Rules is that:1.The Ownership Query decides who gets the data2.The Initial Query is the one that runs when a device is initialised3.The Related Query is the one that runs once data in the Table (Task in our case) gets updated.The problem i have had before is when modifying the Related Query it sent too much data and clogged up the system for a week. I had checked all the joins etc and they were all correct. I cant post it here as i undid it a long time ago.Anyone have any pointers or tips for using and modifying these?
Is there any way to restrict the selection of Task Statuses based upon the Task Type? We need this becuase certain types of tasks should only have certain statuses
We have a Business Rule that sends a command to the monitor to generate a PROJECT_EVENT at a specified time. If, the specified time is later changed however, we want the orignal request to be updated with the new time, or cancelled and the new request and time sent to the monitor. Instead what we are seeing is an EVENT created at the original time, and another EVENT created at the NEW time. How can we achieve this? Hi, If we remotely initialise a users Mobile App, how long does the request stay in the system. i.e. if they were off work for say 2 weeks for example, would it initialse when they next log on?

The patterns and findings are as follows: We have a notification setup to fire upon project.approval_status being updated. The fields that do not reliably work in the resulting notification messages are:project.user_def1 project.user_def2 project.created_byHere are my the findings from testingIf you change the Approval Status on the Project by directly changing the field on the Project screen. The Notification goes out correctly with all values.However, In our application, the Project Approval status is typlically changed via a business rule triggered from TASK. I am trying to create a substitution map to send an email to the owner of a project (PERSON_ID_OWNER). The Notification however, gets fired from the context of TASK_EVENT. However, it does not resolve the email address. I have attached the setup of the subsitution map for reference. Is this becuase i am not allowed to go from TASK_EVENT to PERSON as TASK_EVENT is not a ‘Tab’ on the Project screen?
In the UI Designer, how can i make a field default to the value of another field. i.e. on the Project Screen i want field PERSON_ID_OWNER to default to CREATED_BY, i have putting the field path in the default value field but it just prints the path and not the value? its important that it populates as soon as they hit the ‘New’ button so that they onlty need to change it if it needs to be a different value
How do i get a script to fire on FSM6 form fields and the field has been updated? I have tried ‘AfterValueChanged’ and ‘TextChanged’ but neither fire the script when the value is updated. ‘LostFocus’ fires, but i dont want to use that as it fires when the lookup appears. Thanks in advance
Can anyone please tell me how to change the REQUEST screen subtitle for where the role REQUESTCREATEUPDATE is removed? It states ‘Review your RMAs’ vs ‘Review your requests or press Create...’ where the role REQUESTCREATEUPDATE is present for the user. We want it to just say ‘Review your requests’ for when there is no Create button.
We have an issue on the Customer Portal where we can see thumbnails of image attachments, but cant retrieve the actual file (or any file attachment type for that matter), it seems to lock up for a while then get an error when trying to open it. I am assuming that it can ‘read’ the file (or at least the thumbs.db in that folder) for it to be able to show the Thumbnail, or does it produce a Thumbnail via another method. I am trying to understand why it can retrieve a thumbnail but not the actual file?
