Inconsistent Behavior of the Description in Part and Serial Object screens

in addition to my above comment,if there is a requirement to differentiate between serial objects created from the same part, it’ll be better to use a data field other than description to indicate the differentiation. (Notes, technical data or any other general field depending on the nature of the differentiation)

Hi @Buddhika Kurera ,General idea is that Serial object which is basically a maintenance aware part serial should always be consistent with its respective serial part. Therefore the description of the Serial object should always be the description of the part. As you correctly pointed out if the corresponding part description is changed, its part serials and serial object descriptions are changed. However the description of the serial object/part serial should not allowed to be changed to have this consistency across. Because if the serial object description is changed(which essentially is changing the description of its part) then descriptions all of the serial objects/ part serials created with this part should be changed. Currently in IFS Cloud due to a defect in our system its allowed to change the serial object description in some of our pages(In APPS10 IEE serial object descriptions are not allowed to change) . We can consider this as a defect and fix it to go back to the corre

Availability of all historical WOs, WTs and Work Task Steps in Equipment Object Navigator

Hi @niwa ,Equipment object navigator shows the historical maintenance for a particular object through the counts cards( Historical Work orders, Historical Work tasks and Historical Work Task Steps ) in summary tab, Work tasks tab and Work task steps tab.However All historical work information is not added as a design decision considering the substantial performance impact it would have in the Equipment object navigator. When it comes to a large equipment object structure with lots of equipment and levels, historical work information will keep accumulating and from top of the structure the number of historical work orders/tasks/task steps would keep on growing as maintenance is carried out for the lower level objects. This will have a substantial performance drawback for large object structures where it’ll make it difficult to load the information and drill down the object structure in the Equipment object navigator in a performant manner. Move Serial Object to Inventory

Hi @ZIGESAMM ,In addition to Mayuras comment please check whether your serial object is placed in facility ( Current position In Facility or Contained) and has a parent object. As of the current design, serial object needs to be part of a structure to use the Move To Inventory command,Regards,Asitha

Party ID LoV is not correct when Party Type = Asset Manager

@Buddhika Kurera R&D can provide a fix for this for APPS10 if this is reported by a customer through support.But its unlikely that we’ll prioritize providing a fix for an internally found issue for APPS10.

Hi @IniNaadiJ,There are several ways you could provide access to for a document revision. You can add an access template for a document class through Document management > Basic Data > Document Basic > Access template tab This would provide access to all documents created through the specific classAdditionally access specific to document revision can be added through the document revision access tab Addition to this any object connections to the document revision might add an access as well. Hi,Could you elaborate on the “ access to the persons groups which is relevant to the document class is already granted.” ?You might not have the access to this specific document you are trying to view even though you have access for the class through an access template

DOCMAN - Attach one existing document to several objects/sales parts in one operation

Hi @barner ,As per my understanding there is no current functionality to connect a single document to multiple objects of the same object type(multiple sales parts as you have mentioned). Perhaps you could add this as an idea. There was a similar idea posted to have this capability from document revision in the below ideaThere is a small trick you can do for the attach documents drop down list to find your document with the doc no. You can use “ % “ in front of your doc no in the LOV as a wild card. Check the below screenshot

Creation of SM Object - Apps 10 vs IFS Cloud

Hi @tunstalltom IFS Cloud Create SM object functionality is similar to what IEE had(Only serial objects can be created through a customer order). Could you explain the exact business requirement to have a functional object rather than a serial object delivered through the customer order?

Document Detach option is not available in some screens

Hi @INFHasitha,Documents that are shown for a particular object LU will depend on the object connection transformations that are defined for that object LU and its direct object connections to the documents.Document connections that are transformed cannot be detached from the Target LU (Since its not directly connected to the target LU, rather its transformed from source LU which is the actual object connection). That's why the detach option is not shown for document connection with the field “Source”. Source field indicates the LU the document transformed from. If you want to remove the transformed document connections,Disable the relevant object connection transformation - This will result in not showing any document connections from source LU in the target LU Use the details command from attachment and navigate to document revision and remove the object connection from there - This will result in losing the document connection to the source LU as well

Can we add a Functional object as a Superior SM Object in CO

Hi @indmlk Yes you can add functional object as superior objects in the customer order. Object LOV will show all objects connected to the customer added in the customer order.you can connect the customer to the functional object by adding it as a customer in the Parties tab in the functional object.

What is the correct process for creating Serial Objects and moving within Functional Objects?

Hi @WyrJamesG,When you use the “Maintenance Aware” functionality in a Serial part still in inventory it cannot be moved around structures because the part is still in the inventory. For a serial object to be moved around structures it needs to issued and placed in facility. You can issue the serial through a work task and place it in the functional/serial structure using the “Place Serial in Structure” command in Execute Work task page. If the serial is already issued, then you can use the “Place Serial in structure” option when using the maintenance aware. So basically a serial part always has to be issued before it is brought into the facility and placed in a structure.Regards,Asitha

@Dilini Arandara yes this looks like a clear defect. It shouldn't allow adding new approval template when the document is in approval in progress and update allowed flag is not enabled.

Issue in shared document repository

Hi @Ushani Weeraratne,The shared repository you have setup is not accessible through the environment. That’s why you are getting that error when the repository is set to generating. Please check whether the environment can access the network path you are adding as a shared location.As for why its working when its set to :”usable”, it means that any new documents that is checked into the class for which the repository is setup will be checked into the next applicable “Generating” repository. Repositories are set as usable when the repository location is full or growing in size unnecessarily so any new documents for the class will be checked into a different “Generating” repository. For a certain document class there can only be one “Generating” document repository in a given time.So in this case as Sahan mentioned above it might be checking into the Default database repository ( * document class) therefor you are not getting any errors.

Just a follow up question @YONI_LH Customer you have entered in the customer order, is that an Internal customer or an external customer?Create SM Object functionality doesn't consider the scenario where you have an internal customer as the customer in the customer order.

Automatic created Serial Part into Serial Object

Hi,When you deliver the customer order, user has the option to create a serial object or not. There is a toggle in the customer order line named “Create SM Object”. This can be setup to be added by default from the sales part page as well. When it is enabled once the customer order is delivered, customer owned serial object is created for the serial part. Additionally the user can decide the parent object of the created serial object from the customer order line itself by adding a value in “Superior SM Object” .Regards,Asitha

The responsible person on the document changes when we create a new revision

Hi Linda,Just to clarify what you meant by “changed”, In this scenario the new revision is created by a user other than the responsible person of the first revision. So the user who actually created the new revision is assigned as the responsible person for the new revision. Is that the issue customer is facing here?cc: @Mathias Dahl
