Proceeding and Trailing space chars in Apps 10 Aurena

Question: Why does IFS Apps 10 Aurena display an extra space characters before and after all data? Background:When viewing data in IFS Apps 10 Aurena, that data is always padded with a leading and trailing space character. See my example highlighted in Red in the below screenshot...The approach to displaying data seems to be as follows...=concatenate(“ “,TRIM{database_Value},” “)I.e. Aurena takes the data from the database, Trims it (to remove any proceeding and trailing spaces which were actually present in the database) and then applies a proceeding and trailing space character before displaying it on the screen.When selecting and copying data from the screen (e.g. to use in a search/filter, or to paste into an externa document) it is inconvenient and frustraiging to always have to manually remove those padding space characters.Furthermore, this behaviour masks the true content of the database field (i.e. it is impossible to see if leading or training spaces have been entered into th

Populating "Tax Code" when migrating Instant Invoice Lines

Evening IFS Experts!I wonder if any of you can help me with a migration challenge… In IFS Apps 10 Aurena, manually adding a line to an Instant Invoice causes the “Tax Code” field to be auto populated. Our Sales Objects have no tax code on them, and so the Tax Code is taken from “Customer (page) > Address (section) > Delivery Tax Informant (tab) > Taxes (group) > Tax Code (field)”. When we migrate an Instant Invoice line, we need to replicate this function (i.e. the migration job also needs to read the Tax Code from “Customer > Address > Delivery Tax Informant”) but I’m struggling to work out how to do that. Edit icon in Aurena

In IFS Apps 10 Aurena, we have found that some screens require users to click the “Edit” (pencil) icon before they can edit data, but most screens allow users to edit data directly. Can this behaviour be changed via a customisation (e.g. via page designer)? Background: We have added several mandatory custom fields to the Supplier screen. In EE, this would forces users to populate all of the mandatory fields before they can save any changes to the record. However, Aurena allows users to edit fields one at a time, with changes being immediately committed to the database when the user clicks out of that individual field. As such, it is possible for the user to edit the record without populating the mandatory custom fields (i.e. making the fields mandatory (required) in Aurena does not force the users to populate them as it did in EE).The Aurena Suppler screen does have an edit pencil icon, and if the user clicks that before making any changes, Aurena behaves as required (i.e. it forces th

Use of wildcard characters in Scan-It WaDaCo app

Is there any way to use Wildcard characters within a WaDaCo transaction?We have configured the “Find Inventory” function to ask the user for a part number, and then display stock of that part. The transaction is working correctly, but it currently shows stock in all our locations (e.g. Arrival locations, floor stock locations, quality control locations, as well as standard picking locations).We would like to limit the results to only show stock in locations with a Locations IDs that start with the letters “S01". I tried setting the location datapoint to use a fixed value of “S01%” or “S01*” but WaDaCo doesn't seem to understand the wildcard characters at all (it just errors stating “Inventory location ID S01% does not exist on the site”).As an alternative solution, we could limit the search to only show stock in locations with Location Group “S01” but I don’t think that’s possible either as the “Find Inventory” transaction doesn't have a datapoint for Location Group.Any advice would be

Document Default Value "ATTACH_CREATE_NEW_FORM" in Aurena

Is there a way to allow a user to enter a Document Number (or revision number) when they they are creating a new document in Apps 10 Aurena via the “Create New” button? On the “Document Default Values” screen, there is a setting called “ATTACH_CREATE_NEW_FORM”. The help system states…This value determines the dialog that will be opened when the New button in the Documents Attachment panel is clicked. Possible values are Create Document Assistant, Create New Document and Create Documents. We set this to “Create Document Assistant” and this had the expected effect in EE. When we click the “Create New” button in the attachments panel of EE, the “Create Document Assistant” opens and allows the user to specify full details for the document they are creating (e.g. Doc Class, Doc Number, Revision Number, Format, Title, etc.)However, this setting doesn't seem to have any effect in Aurena at all. IFS Objects to which Document Text can be added

IFS provides the ability to add Document Text to some objects in the database (e.g. Customers, Suppliers, Parts, POs and lines, etc). Having done so, it can be configured (via the Doc Text Administration screen) to inherit though to one or more Output documents. For example, we can add doc text to a part record and configure it to appear on any Purchase Order with a line for that part number.This is very useful functionality, but seems to be limited only a pre-determined set of objects.Is there a way to enable document text against addition object types (e.g. could we add doc text to a site, such that all POs on that site show the applicable phrase?)Also, is there a list of all objects to which Document Text can be added (I couldn't find any such list in the help system?)Thanks in advance for any help!

Aurena Vs Enterprise Explorer

Having worked with IFS Enterprise Explorer (EE) over the past 5 years, I am finding the transition to Aurena very challenging. Many of the features/functions I have come to rely upon in EE don’t seem to exist in Aurena. Aurena advanced search across multiple LUs

In EE, I have commonly deployed advanced saved searches to query across two separate LUs. For example…To search for all Inventory Parts of type “Manufactured” for which Serial Tracking is enabled on the corresponding Master Part record, we would use a SQL advanced search on the Inventory Parts screen, as follows…TYPE_CODE = 'Manufactured' and Part_No in (select Part_No from &AO.PART_CATALOG where RECEIPT_ISSUE_SERIAL_TRACK_DB = 'TRUE')Is it possible to perform an equivalent search via the advanced search feature in Aurena?Copy and pasting the same SQL doesn’t work, as it seems Aurena search seems to require Projection names rather than View names, but after I edited the search term to try accommodate that, Aurena still didn’t accept it. I’m not sure if the issue is with the nested select statement (or maybe it just doesn’t like the “in” operator)?Any advice would be appreciated!

Prevent special chars from being entered in IFS fields

Is there a way to prevent special chars from being entered into IFS fields by users? For example, percent sign %, ampersand &, underscore _, etc. I seem to remember there being a basic data / system setup screen in IFS whereby you can list characters which you want to be “disallowed”, but I don't remember the name of the screen that holds this system setup/ basic data setting, and haven't been able to find reference to it in the help system. How to copy Characteristics from one Engineering Part Revision, to another

On the Engineering Part Revision screen, IFS provides a RMB option called Copy Services. When clicked, a dialogue box is shown which allows the user to specify a Source part number, and then select if they want to copy the Structure, Documents, or Characteristics (or any combination there-of).In IFS Apps 10, I can use this function to copy Characteristics (attributes, values, and Info) from one Eng Part Rev to another, but when i try the same in IFS Apps 9, the option for Characteristic is always greyed out. Details of my process are as follows…Open the Engineering Parts screen and create 2off new parts… Part No: RHU-TEST-111, Part No: RHU-TEST-222, Open the Engineering Part Revision screen, and search for RHU-TEST-111Open the attachment panel, select Characteristics,RMB, Select Technical Class…Select an existing technical class template (I used a tempate with ~50off attributes)Populate the Value and Info fields on one or more attributes.RMB, Save Attributes On the Engineering pa

IFS Apps 9: Custom Fields in Document Management Macros?

We use a Document Management Marco in IFS, to enable DocumentProperties/QuickParts in Microsoft Word and Excel documents. This macro allows data held in IFS (e.g Document Number, Revision Number, Title, etc) to be automatically inserted into the Word or Excel document. We have added a custom field in IFS, and I need to automatically insert the data from that custom field into the Word Document.On the “Macro Basic” screen, “Object Attributes for Macro” tab we have to list all the IFS fields applicable to a given Object, which shall be made available to the macro code, but it seems to be limited to out-of-the-box fields only. Is there any way to add a custom field?Note: I am aware that in IFS Apps 10, this functionality has been expanded to allow custom fields to be used, but we really need to be able to do this in Apps 9.
