Activity Checklist Mobile Edge

Hi Leann,This would require a small customization on the mobile side to display this information (currently we give the technicians visibility into the Activities performed by other technicians on the Overview screens at both the order header level and the activity level...but we don’t include the checklist details in those Overview screens at this time...just a Checklist Status line that indicates whether it was passed or failed).Thanks,Reid

Alliance : GPS position linked to action

We created the -10189 MOE primarily to help conserve battery life on the mobile devices...if a technician remains at a particular job site for many hours in a row then there is not always the need to capture/transmit these coordinates until they indicate that they have completed their work (and can then travel to the next job site or home if they are done for the day). When the GPS capture is disabled there will be less demand on the battery on the mobile device so technicians won’t need to charge their devices as often in these cases.

Hi Kevin,This is a known limitation with the Mobile Customizer application...if you wanted to add fields to these sections or remove the entire area that would have to be done as a small customization on the client-side code layer (which would require a BRD to be drawn up and estimated).Thanks,Reid

If you have any mobile technicians that haven’t downloaded/installed the latest version yet (and you’re not using MDM software to control the download/installation of these updates), you can have them uncheck the “Enable auto-update” checkbox in the Play Store (click on the Astea Mobile application, then click on the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the screen and then uncheck the Enable auto-update checkbox that appears in that popup window): Thanks,Reid

Hi Christophe,Check the Alliance Event Viewer log files just before the error is reported (sometimes the actual error message captured doesn’t have enough detail in it to pinpoint the problem but one of the records right before it time-wise has additional information as to why the transaction is failing) and those might be marked as Information entries and not Error entries so disable any filtering beforehand so it shows all records.Thanks,Reid

Swapping Vans in Mobile Edge no longer works as expected

Hi Chris,After you change the van on the login screen, do you get any errors on the mobile device? Once the inventory module refreshes do you have visibility to the items in the newly selected warehouse?If you’re not getting any errors on the mobile device and you still can’t see the parts try doing a manual refresh in Mobile Edge in the Inventory module itself...if that still doesn’t work then check the log files on the Mobile and Alliance application servers...look for any errors in there at the time the new van selection was made. If that doesn’t yield anything then I would suggest logging a support ticket for the issue.Thanks,Reid

Hi Philippe, When you say the tech double-clicks on the Activity Start Date field...are they doing that in the Alliance application or in the Mobile Edge application? Can you attach a screenshot of the error? If they manually enter a time using the date/time control picker (instead of double-clicking) does it also throw the same validation message?Can you try manually entering 02:10, 03:10, 04:10, 05:10, 06:10, 07:10, 08:10, 09:10, 10:10 into the same field and see which one it finally allows? (that should help to pinpoint whether it’s rolling the TIME you enter in back another 8 hours due to the time zone difference or whether there’s something wrong with the DATE portion validation that’s triggering the error).Thanks,Reid

Can you recreate this on another vanilla environment? (I suspect someone is in the middle of a Customizer change on the QAC environment which is usually what triggers those system errors). Try stepping through the source code in debug mode and see if you can pinpoint the exact point when the service guide demands are getting added to the order...it may be a standard bug that we need to log a support ticket for…Thanks,Reid
