Unable to connect to IFS 10 - Due to Error 500

This error can have varying causes.  The 500 error message at login is a generic message.Since you have already checked on the deployments and found them to be “green” you could also run the mws-svr script which is found at the root directory of the middleware home of the host server where your application’s middleware is deployed.  Be sure to run it as administrator.  You’d use the same user credential as what you’ve used to log into the IFS Admin Console to run this script (you’ll be prompted for that user & password).  Run this script with the STATUS option and ask for ALL when prompted.If this script replies and says “RUNNING” for all mws servers then you will have eliminated another possible cause of the error.  But if any of the server responses show a status other than RUNNING you may need to restart or even reconfigure the mws.  Restart can also be done by using the same mws-svr.exe script.  Reconfigure is done with the IFS Installer application (found at the same location

I don’t have experience with configuring email or messaging in general in Cloud environments and will have get help from others on this topic.  But you’ll still need to configure the MAIL_SENDER1 connector in a similar fashion as was done with Apps 10 in your Cloud instance (see below screen shot).From the Cloud training I’ve had to date I believe there will be an extra step on the host server to define a virtual port for use with the Kubernetes container, i.e. the container’s virtual port should defined and opened up for use to be associated with an actual port on the host server.  I haven’t yet located documentation on that step and will have to defer to others on how exactly that can be done.I did manage to find the following in the Technical Documentation library on this topic:https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/23r2/030_administration/010_security/040_iam_settings/060_smtp_email_server/#update_configuration MAIL_SENDER1 configuration in Cloud 23R2

Sasanka,Another IFS customer reported having this same error in one of their Apps 10 environments.  They were able to work around this error by using the SSL Passthrough option when they got to the System Access Setup panel as they prepared to run a reconfigure.Please let us know if this takes care of your certificate issue….or if you’ve already tried this option.Eugene

When the Connection String information shown in the second screen shot above is blank it is an indication that the configuration .xml file has not been located by the IFS Installer.  There appear to be problems with the existing mws home of this instance.Make sure the file <instance name>_configuration.xml is located at <mws home>\instance\<instance name> directory.  If it is there and the IFS installer still can’t display any information in the Connection String field shown above then it may be necessary to delete and reinstall the mws instance.

Common name does not contain fully qualified domain name

It appears the server certificate you’ve selected may not be complete with the server and / or domain names needed for the host machine of your recreated mws.  You can test this by running another reconfigure and trying to use a self-signed certificate.  Then, if everything else is in good order, you ought to be able to start the mws servers and processes.After doing this you’d need to locate the self-signed certificate file in the mws home, import it into the browser of the machine you are using to log into this Apps 10 environment and then attempt the login.  Again, if everything else is in good order you should be able to log into the Apps 10 instance.  But if not there would be other problems to track down.After these tests, if the mws started successfully and user login was also successful it would indicate that the server certificate is not valid.  But if either of the tests failed then there are other issues to be addressed with this environment.  In this situation the steps use

Printing takes too long

Again - Cindy is correct in regards to giving different names to each print agent service.  She’s also given powerpoint attachments which I suspect give examples of how to configure Logical Printers (but I can’t open the powerpoint files to be certain of this).  Make sure each printer you wish to use, with either (or any) print agent service is configured per IFS instructions in the Logical Printers screen in the application and also in the configuration file of the respective print agent service.I worked a case where another IFS customer had defined all of their printers in multiple Print Agent services’ configuration files.  This caused problems.  The configuration files for each PA service should only mention the printers of its own domain / locality.  For example if you had two PA services, A and B, the printers belonging to the domain of Service A should not be defined in the configuration file of Service B (and vis versa).Let us know if you have further questions on this.Eugene W

Printing takes too long

Agree with Cindy above….set up another Print Agent service for the second site.  Make sure it’s installed on a host server within the same network domain as the printer device(s) where the physical printing is to be done.  IFS allows - and encourages - the use of multiple Print Agent services where appropriate.Use of the Print Agent in general is intended to be as localized as possible as its purpose is to minimize network traffic as well as to direct printer output to specific printer devices.  The Print Agent services will retrieve compressed print jobs from the database, decompress the print job files and then send them to the desired printer.  So the Print Agent service should be as close as possible to the physical printers it uses.

HttpServer1 Exception

In such cases, i.e. where the “can’t reach this page” response is given it’s necessary to restart the mws server processes - or possibly to even reconfigure the mws using the mws-svr.cmd script or the IFS installer app (installer.cmd), respectively.  Both of these tools are found at the root level of the mws home directory.

Barcode in Crystal report Quick reports IFS cloud 22r2

Not yet.  This appears to be an area which is not yet fully developed.  Customers who which to continue with Crystal will have to do research on their own, it seems.  One of my associates in IFS Support (who has a similar case assigned to him) was informed by R&D that it would also be necessary to deploy IDAutomation libraries to the server where the Crystal Web Service is installed.  But as of yet IFS has not yet provided any documentation on how to do such a deployment - although there is such instruction posted on this topic by outside parties on the Web.Eugene W

KJRO,This sounds as if it may be the same case & customer as an existing case I’m now working.  I’ve checked with the IFS Support’s SME for reporting.  This engineer explained how there are only a limited number of barcode fonts which are currently supported by IFS Cloud.  Our customer needs to make sure of the following: - the barcode font you've named is actually one of those supported by IFS Cloud - the barcode font has been configured as needed in the Font Substitution screenAlso note that for IFS Cloud versions the IFS Report Designer tool has a larger pool of support within IFS Support and IFS R&D.  Crystal has minimal levels of support and expertise within these areas of IFS.  If the report can’t be made to work with the barcode font in Crystal it may be easier to convert the report to use IFS Report Designer instead.Eugene Wager, Systems Engineer, GSD Technology (IFS Support)

Order Report Issue

Hello Dhanushya,Please help to clarify your question with some details:Is the report you are testing a core IFS report or is it custom made by you or one of your associates?If it is custom, is the report a SQL query, created via IFS Report Designer, Crystal or other tool?When you say “...it is getting executed when tested from backend database….” does this mean the report will run successfully when executed from the backend?Please help us to help you by providing the above details - along with any others you think may be helpful.Thanks --- Eugene Wager - systems engineer, IFS Support

Application installed release versus database installed release

Stephen,The query you’ve listed above on the Module table will give you the components / modules and deliveries applied to the IFS application.The Oracle Opatch utility will provide details of the Oracle provided patches to the Weblogic middleware and the Oracle database.  For Apps 10 installations Opatch can be accessed at the following location on the middleware host server:<ifs home>\mw_home\mws\OpatchFor Oracle databases this utility is also available at the following location on the database host server:<oracle home>\OpatchTo execute the Opatch utility, navigate to the appropriate location, then run the command “opatch -lsinventory”.  This command will generate output listing all patches applied to the mws or the database, depending on the server on which the command was run.Eugene Wager, systems engineer - IFS Support

Background Job Stuck in the Posted state not getting excecuted

Charuka,There are several factors to consider with this kind of a situation.  Some of these could be:prior runs of the background job(s) affected - did any fail with errors? database locks - are there any preventing this job from starting? problems with the batch queue where the background job is scheduled - is the queue itself inactive or somehow prevented from initiating new jobs? batch queue planning and job scheduling - are there excessive numbers of jobs being triggered at the same time - or does a resource intensive job hold up other quicker jobs from running?  If yes to either situation, could some jobs be moved to a different queue to avoid scheduling bottlenecks? process count for the batch queue - are there sufficient JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES to accommodate this job and those of the other batch queues within the Oracle database?There may also be other issues occurring in the Oracle database which could hinder or altogether block background jobs from starting.  Troubleshooting this

I’m trying to find the Excel data migration tool add-on for IFS Apps 9. Do you know where it is located on the website?

Go to the Apps 9 landing page for your instance and do the following:click on the Add-ons link click on the links at the location shown above.  If both links are needed, i.e. the Excel Add-in AND the Visual Studio 2010 Tools, then make sure to use both.  Clicking the links will begin the installation immediately on the machine from where the request was made.

Database post-refresh activities

Wow - this is a loaded question.  There can be quite a few places to look, depending on which features of the IFS application are used at your site.For starters, look at the Integration section of your new IFS environment.  Check the connections, messaging and interfaces configured in the IFS Connect section of the application.  Make sure these connections and interfaces are pointed to the databases and destinations you need (and not to Prod environments).In a similar fashion look into the Connectivity and Events subcategories.  Be sure to also look at the reports in use within IFS.  Focus on your customized reports.You’ll need to check database connections used by any add-on features of IFS in use at your sites, i.e. Demand Planner, Constraint Based Scheduling, BI, Business Analytics, Touch Apps, etc.  Each of these add-on features will contain database connection info which should be validated.You’ll want to check on any customized packages and other mods applied by your company too.

While installing ssl certificate ifs apps9 getting error

In addition to the response from Pankaj above, make sure the user which runs the IFS Installer app has full access on the host server to all directories, i.e. local admin access.  Windows Server can be troublesome with security matters and user access at times.Eugene W.

Windows Patch KB5018410 May Cause Authentication Issues

NOTE TO R&D ---Another North America based customer has reported the same issue via LCS case G2356800.  They informed IFS Support earlier today they’ve learned POP and other email protocols have been deprecated and will no longer be supported past 2022 year end.  They’ve asked for recommendations for authentication methods to be used with their connectors.Eugene W

@knepiosko,Assuming you are working with an Apps 10 instance….Step 1 - reconfigure mwsif this doesn’t resolve the issue then proceed to Step 2Step 2 - connect to IFS Admin ConsoleStep 3 - make sure connection to database is valid (Common  » Database  »  press “Validate Connection” button at top).  If not valid, work with a DBA to resolve connectivity issues.  If valid proceed to Step 4.Step 4 - make sure HTTP Server1 (and other HTTP servers if you have a clustered mws) is running, i.e. status shows “green”.  If valid, proceed to Step 5.Step 5 - confirm whether Main Server’s Managed Server shows RUNNING for State value and status shows “green”.  (MainCluster  »  Managed Servers  »  Servers tab).  If valid proceed to Step 6.Step 6 - confirm whether Main Server’s Data Sources show Running state.  (Main Cluster  »  Data Sources  »  Control tab).  If any Data Source shows not running see whether or not the Reset button will resolve State.  If all Data Sources show Running then continue to S
