Object connection transformation

Looks like you have the correct LU names for Target and Source. Unless there is a bug in one of those forms (in the target form, would be my guess), then the only possible reason for it not working is that there is a problem in your transformation code.

If it is the items under Media you want to make visible in another place, you should use the MediaLibrary service, yes. It is not clear to me “where” in the application/screen you have the input focus. That determines what LU name you should use, for both source and target. You can see, under System Info, what the “Attachment LU” is. It is critical that you use the correct one, both for target and source. Normally Attachment LU is the same as Logical Unit, but not always. In order to help out, it would be good if you could post two images, one where you show the full screen where the user is, and showing where the input focus is set right now. The second would be an image of the source screen, showing where the input focus is.

Hi, you write you would like to attach documents and show them in the connected target LU. At the screenshot you entered the service “MediaLibary”. MediaLibary means, that you connect a media item at the source LU and the media item will be shown at the target LU. For documents you must chose a different service. Exactly. If you want to use Object Connection Transformation for Attachments / Documents, you need to use the service DocReferenceObject.

Hi, This is not easy to debug and, I think that your transformation is called from IFS MWS, which means you will not find it in the debug console). You need to make sure your transformation method actually works, but running it outside IFS. You need to send in correct input, in the form of a LU name and key ref (as I remember it), and it must produce another correct LU and key ref as output (or a list). To have something to compare with, try run any of the other transformation IFS ships with, and see how they behave. If you post your method here, perhaps we can spot a problem with it. Also, when you say it does not work, what does it actually mean? :) What are you testing with? What did you expect? Are there documents connected to the Source LU? Many things can go wrong when you first try this out… /Mathias

Like @CallumW says, you cannot modify the predefined attributes in a standard event. However, there might be an ugly workaround: use an event action of the type “Online SQL” (I might misremember the name, but you will find it). In that one, write a small block of PL/SQL code that will, again, execute the same event. When doing this you can provide the values you need. This is indeed a bit of a hack, and you also need to introduce some value or attribute that you can check in your event action to make sure things continuing forever. I don’t have the time to produce a recipe for this, so someone else might need to step in here, or you need to experiment with this yourself. Have a look at how the standard events in IFS are coded and you will understand how it is done. Good luck!

Although it was not the intended way of working when the comment file functionality was designed a long time ago, it is possible to have a comment file for, say, and AutoCAD drawing (DWG), using Word (DOC). However, it can require some careful tweaking to get working. I once did an experiment where the External Redline Application (under User Settings in Docman) was set to a script (.cmd file). This script gets a file name sent in. I then had some logic in this script that opened Word. I also remember I had to do some file renaming to get it all to work. The comment file functionality expects files to be named in a very strict way, to work. For this to work at all, you need to have Word files (DOC or DOCX) setup as Document Type = Redline under Edm Basic. That might not be what you want, since you might also use those file types as originals. It might work though, but it was a long time since I tested. In Apps 10, there is also functionality to suggest a certain document class, based on the object type (LU), when creating a new document from the attachment panel. Have a look at the screen Document Object Connection Default Values. Also make sure to read the documentation that explains how it works. I also meant what Sarah posted about above, but I misremembered the place where we can configure this :)

Digital Signature in Docman

Is it possible to make Digital Signature integrate to attached documents through third party application? The question is a bit vague. “Integration” can mean many different things, and so can “digital signatures”. Can you elaborate? What is the exact requirement? Hi Mathias,The idea is Print Digital Signature on documents at approval steps in IFS , or just when document is approved. as per Kasun answer is part of standard functionality in App 10 but only for PDF files. is that make it more clear ? It’s clear, and it sounds exactly like what we have support for, for PDF files. And, actually, the question is if digital signatures are feasible for many other file formats than PDF. PDF have good support for it, with a lot of features. Perhaps the customer can generate PDF files from their original file formats, and sign the PDFs?

You can configure the different options in that dialog per document class in the Document Class Process Action screen. Unfortunately you need to do this per class and per action (most of the time View is enough). Try it and see if that works for you. And, by the way, the users can press the Enter/Return key to accept that dialog. For some, this might feel simpler than to click OK.

Tracking lobby usage

Some ideas to add to the above… I don’t have any details, but if you add some unique dummy query + element on each lobby (like “SELECT 'Lobby1' FROM dual”), you should be able to check in Oracle on regular intervals if that query has been executed, and get some kind of idea about the usage. Another idea, which I am not sure about, would be to check the access logs on the web/application server and see if each lobby access can be seen there. A job for a technician/DBA or similar role, of course. Update: You CAN see the lobby requests in the access logs. In them you can see something like this: POST /main/default/plsqlgateway/AccessPlsql/Invoke?Lobby_Refresh_ds=Aurena%20Projects%20-%20Expected%20Shop%20Orders_page=c4e8c8d3-a0b3-4e93-a9f0-7da210294c68 Above, I think the last cryptic ID is the lobby ID, but I am not 100% sure.

Document Approvals

@amila Thank you for your reply. Do you have experience yourself of developing macros that add approval watermarks or some other identifier to documents? I notice in the F1 it mentions VBScript and JavaScript are the programming languages available for writing macros neither of which we have experience of. Document macros can certainly do this (this is actually what macros are primarily for), but it requires some knowledge in writing VBScript code. All can be found on the internet, of course. I recommend you start with a super simple macro that just opens a message box, it should be available in the documentation. And read all the documentation you can find on “macros”. Once you have the message box example working, it’s just a matter of extending it with more code to add a header or watermark or whatever you want to do. It might take some time if you are new to this, of course… If you need help, I am sure IFS support can help you with this (billable, probably...), or some of IFS’

As Amila wrote, deleting the file and checking in a new one is easy. Another way is to Edit the file and replaced the file that is checked out with a new one before you do Check In.

Agreed, little configuration and tweaking of the process will probably always happen. And there will always be enhancement requests. But copying some functionality from the purchase process doesn't really sound like a bad idea ;-) Perhaps you meant to improve how the forecasting functionality works together with approvals, i.e. adding business logic there. Then I agree it would be a good match. Bigger parts of the product should have more nice functionality that enhances the different attachments that we have.

Seems like something needs to be improved in the core here Perhaps. When it comes to these generic functionalities, like all/most attachments are, it’s always a challenge to make new features generally useful in all parts of the application. Sometimes it’s actually better to let customers do some bit of configuration instead of making the core more complex. But it depends on the requirement, of course.

Custom menu type "PL/SQL Block" with window transfer

Does anyone know how to call a package function inside of a URL? Like.... ifsapf:[&c_custom_api.get_url(&order_no)] If so, you could stuff the DML inside of a function with an autonomous transaction, then return from the function the UTF16LE+BOM base64 encoded data transfer. I've figured out everything but the URL syntax. Allowing that would be a possibly quite big security whole, so I think it will never happen, at least not as a generic feature. You could certainly program/customize your form to look for parameters in the URL that would make it do any kind of database call (or any kind of call/code), but that’s a special case. In Aurena, you can kind of do this via our REST APIs, but it’s a POST, not a GET and a different thing.

B2B Non Conformance Reports (NCR)

I am trying to see a Non Conformance Report attached to a customer order from the B2B portal. I see it attached to the CO in IEE or Aurena, but not in the B2B. Is there any particular classification of the NCR may I need to do? As far as I know, there is still no generic attachment area for NCRs, that can be activated on any screen. Most probably it has been “hardcoded” into each page where IFS R&D thought it was needed. If it is missing, from your point of view, I suggest you file a support case about it, such that it can become a request for future developments. At this moment there’s no object connection screen for B2B, I think this is a bug cause I have tested in the reference environment and it raise the same error. I have opened a case to RnD. When you say “I think this is a bug”, do you refer to the fact that there is no screen for configuring object connections B2B? If yes, that I don’t think you will get agreement on this. Document Management - Access

...but how can I get the employees line manager to view the document without opening the document up to multiple other users? Others here have suggested different automatic solutions, but unless I have missed anything no one have suggested the simple manual approach of just adding a line under Access / Definition with your line manager’s person ID in the Person ID field. Set the access level to View if your manager just need to view the document. Yes, this needs to be done for each document, manually, but if it does not happen that often and if you have a small instruction for it, it might not be a problem.
