Import view copy with the create document assistant

Hey @Carole, what you installed is the IFS standard add-in.The screenshot you are comparing with is from our software suite called Office Automation Suite (see Microsoft Office Integration - Addovation ) built by us at Addovation.Our new product line for IFS Cloud looks a bit different, but can still do the same (create a PDF view copy) - here is a sneak peek of it: We havent update our web site yet with our new IFS Cloud series product suite so I suggest drop a mail to our sales rep Nicklas (nicklas.ljungholm@addovation.com) if you wanna know more.

Migrating document files into IFS Cloud (22R1) Docman

The integration / premium APIs don’t support setting e.g format size, status etc though. But just use the debugger and you’ll see what payload and API to use.But it’s pretty straightforward to create a Logic App or Function to do it, and there’s a multitude of connectors available in Azure eg Salesforce connector, or even read from disk.

When using IFS std / built-in projections we’ve seen that some of them change, and I’ve looked on Boomi (and the price) and believe that it mostly eases auth and transport layer and stuff - but fact remains, if IFS built-in projection changes → the integration will fail.In order to reduce the risk that this occurs I see no other way than to develop own maintained projections, the APIs in the DB doesn’t seem to change a lot though so theoretically it shouldn’t be that much of a maintenance, and delivery through IFS Cloud Lifecycle seems to be an easy way of delivering and deploying.

Thanx for the input Ravi, but it feels more like a workaround then a proper solution - then there is no need for the integration projections I guess (since they are so limited).I guess the best would be to develop our own projections in order to handle format size, revision support and status handling.

Upload VIEW-copy using CreateAndImportDocument.svc

Thx for the reply Mathias, I looked around to see if there was another projection that supported this, and tried using std functionality in IFS Cloud - but it doesn’t seem to be possible using std either to create a view copy - I assume it will then be implemented forward, or will it perhaps be completely removed? Any pointers? :)

Archiving/Removing document from Document Management

Hey Mathias, I agree - we have experience in file conversation but no OOTB solution. As Mathias says, I think it’ll be hard to export “any” file format since some are easier and some are more complex. Also various SDKs gives various results in our tests (complex Excel sheets, CAD-drawings).

Object Connections and projections / APIs

Thanx, at least it narrows down the result by filtering on the logical unit name - but out of curiosity, when connecting to objects in Aurena client - how has it been handled there? I assume same challenge has been sorted there somehow (that is, identify what projection to invoke from the object connection basic data).

Thx for the reply, correct - in our Office addin we looked in the object connection basic data and then could automatically fetch information from that view and use the key definitions (depending on what object(s) the document itself was connected to.But this means we have to pretty much store metadata elsewhere, and as you point out - ideally create our own projections (to guarantee that they will not change).Do you know if there are upcoming changes in regards of Cloud21R2?

Best practice on streaming documents in and out of IFS Applications using projections

thx Mr Dahl, is it possible to encapsulate transactions somehow in order to perform rollback? Like tag start and end somehow with a commit or rollback?Secondly, I assume running any PLSQL is out of the question for Cloud21R1 and onwards? Which means we need to use a projection in order to combine several logical transactions with each individual rollback?

PDF Conversion of Documents in IFS Aurena Attachment Panel

I agree with @Mathias Dahl here, converting any file to PDF will be a challenge (and so far we have seen, different SDKs gives different PDF-result, especially when converting from Excel to PDF), at some customers though we have:1. Restricted what types of files that are to be created (e.g. doc, docx).2. Call our web service that creates a view-copy of the file.For the restricted formats it works quite well.For other customers that uses our Microsoft Office add-in we can both check in the original into IFS DocAdm and create a view copy in one go as such:

We don’t enforce the users to check in but we do heavily remind them (see picture) :)We also support the scenario in where users “accidentally” edits a view-copy (and allows them to easily check in document on a new revision and more seamless detects what meta-data that applies against IFS).

We (in Addovation) partnered with BizBrains in order to handle Peppol (and other formats) in regards of IFS Applications (EHF), we didn’t find any std solution in IFS out of the box to handle this (and of course, with Pageor as well).See https://www.addovation.com/product/bizbrains/There is also a new standard coming called P27 in the Nordics that customers need to adhere to.

U need to grant the projections (separate tab in solution manager). If there is an exception I think best way to proceed is to create an LCS case. What exception do u get here?

Automatic Time Clock clock out

I’m not sure I understand the issue here, isn’t it all about tracing what API call to use, create some SQL that runs a scheduled background job and it’ll solve the problem?or perhaps send automatic reminder after X amount of hours to the user?or simplify it by having an Android tablet on the wall and just use tags to clock in or out for all the users as the come and leave?

our customers normally solve the “002” and “0002” problem using formatting in Excel in combination with our Microsoft integration solution.

APP10 - Is there a way to use a “non-dedicated session” in .NET application using IFS .NET Access Provider?

as stated above, impersonation seems to be used so set the Anonymous property to true.I also have to agree that using the projections instead is the long term future proof solution (since AccessProvider will be discontinued).

The solution can run any PLSQL code / dynamic PLSQL so I believe the short answer is yes.Most customers do use it to capture email correspondence, various checklist or connect it to a scanner-solution (eg signed purchase orders).
