Hello, has anyone had to deal with this problem? We have lots of different parts that use the same raw material and are all manufactured using the same machine. To make an efficient process, we would like to “batch” all the shop orders that use a specific component so we can make those parts in one hit. Then “batch” another set of shop orders that use a different raw material and make those. These manufactured parts are then used to make another assembly.OP Blocks doesnt seem to fit this scenario as we are not wanting to batch operations but batch at the shop order level.And because we making a large qty of the parts that use the raw material, we would prefer to book labor at the batch level not on each individual shop order and let IFS apportion the labor across all the shop orders in that batch.Grateful for any comments, etc. Thanks in advance. Hi, has anyone got any advice on how often to perform cycle counting against ABC classifications. I understand the concept of ABC and how to calculate and classify parts (including frequency and lifecycle) but wondering if anyone has any guidance on the days between counts against ABC/Frequency. We often have problems on shop orders where parts cannot be issued because they are being counted and this frustrates the heck out of the planners. My feeling is that we are counting too frequently and I would like to increase the cycle interval but not too sure where the sweet spot would be.Grateful if you could share your experiences.Thank you!
Hi, hoping that someone can explain the logic how parts are selected to be included in a part count. For example, we have a location that needs counting. It contains a mixture of parts (we are not really using ABC so that criteria is blank). We have excluded parts counted since 90 days. My understanding is that will exclude parts counted in the past 90 days, is that correct? Which calendar would it use for these “days”? We count the fully qty of part in location and have 60 records to be counted. I also understand that the “Next Count Date” (visible on Quantity per Location Details) is a primary filter for parts to be included, i.e. this count date has to be after this date to be considered for counting. My question is, if we have limited the count to 60 lines but there are 70 possible lines that meet the part count criteria, how does it select the 60 lines? What logic does IFS use to drop the parts that are not counted? From testing it appears to be selecting the parts with the most r

I want to send the components to the supplier using supplier material.I am trying to get the system to only reserve the supplier material from a supplier’s location, not from a main warehouse stock location, as the part will be ordered and drop-shipped to the supplier. I want the application to raise a purch req if there’s no stock in the supplier’s location.But even though the inventory part is set to reserve & issue only from specified locations and the location is entered on the buildable purchase product structure for that component line, it still allows me to reserve the supplier material from the main warehouse stock location.The purchase product structure is buildable because I want MRP to plan the material, which will be issued to the supplier using supplier material on the purchase order line. Has anyone managed to insert a fixed schedule delay between the completion of a component part shop order and the start of the parent part shop order where it is consumed?My scenario is that I want to ensure that the component part shop orders are completed ahead of when they are being demanded. I don’t want them planned to complete one day before the parent part shop order starts. In effect, I want to build slack into the manufacturing schedule created by MRP.I thought of making the component routing have a longer machine time than I need to build it, which might work but it wouldn’t be obvious looking at the dates. Does anyone know if there are any conditions that would create a new inventory part as “Cost Per Lot Batch”. All new inventory parts seem to get created with this set as “Cost Per Part”.I would like all my new inventory parts to be “Cost Per Lot Batch” but there doesn’t seem to be a way of setting a default or a set of conditions on Master Part that would set this to Cost Per Lot Batch for new inventory parts. There is a way to set a default for everything else in the “Cost Control” group of settings except for the Cost Level! Is that an IFS oversight?All settings seem to result in “Cost Per Part”. I don’t really want to go in and change every single new inventory part that’s created. But that’s what I am currently doing.Only solution I can think of is a custom event to change it to “Cost Per Lot Batch” for new inventory parts.Thanks!
I understand the concept of Expense Inventory Parts, but I am a little confused why there would be a need for a Part Transfer Template for Expense Parts. I mean, you can’t designate an Engineering Part as expense, and normal functionality (for the engineering transfer) is that Buy parts with no structure automatically pick up the Purchased Raw Part Transfer Template.I guess that you could manually select an Expense Part Transfer Template (if one was created) on the Engineering Revision Transfer screen, but personally I can’t see the need. Does anyone create Engineering “expense” parts and use an Expense Part Transfer Template? If so, how do you use it?Or am I missing something?Thanks!
I hope someone has come across this scenario before.I have a product structure that has some components connected to a later OP in the routing. This is because I don’t need the parts until, say, OP 30 or 40.However, MRP plans ALL the components as due on the start date of the shop order, completely disregarding the fact that I don’t need some components until the third or fourth OP, which may be weeks after the start of the shop order.Does anyone know how to get MRP to schedule these supplies as due after the start of the shop order and actually due when that OP they are connected to is scheduled to start?Be grateful for any views. Has anyone used the Define Modification in IFS in conjunction with CRO? I have returned units that require to be converted to another part number and Modification seems to be able to do that. Although I have read through the help, it is not very intuitive how to set up and create a task list on the CRO Repair line to actually carry out the mod. Grateful if anyone who has done this could share their experience. Thank you.
Hi, does anyone know how to book time to an OP when that OP is on an outside work center but there is a labor factor on the routing (and shop order OP).There doesn’t weem to be a way so why does IFS even allow the user to create an OP for an outside work center that has a labor factor!My feeling is that there’s a setting somewhere to enable but I can’t find it.Many thanks!And BTW, we are working completely in Apps 10 Aurena, not EE (which does have a checkbox to show outside work center OPs but still doesn’t allow labor time to be booked).
Hello, I was wondering in Apps. 10, if there is any way to put an horizon on the MRP calculations. Or is it for all time like Apps. 9?I know that in Master Schedule you can define a planning horizon. Can you do something similar for MRP? Thanks for looking!
Just wondered if anyone (in the UK) has experience of managing MOD GFE equipment in IFS. whether its repairs, spares, embodiment items etc etc. Some of this will come in on a CRO but not all of it will and some of it will be held by the business on behalf of MOD. My starting point for tracking is the fact that it will all be flagged as Customer Owned in IFS.There are strict requirements how businesses need to manage and report on any GFE they hold. There must be someone out there who has experience and I would be really interested in understanding how it is being done within IFS.Many thanks
Hi, I have created a Packing Instruction in terms of Pallets and Cartons that can automatically create a packing structure to ship a variable large qty of a part. The way it can create the packing structure is really neat. But does anyone know if there is a way for IFS to automatically procure the Pallets and Cartons (and any other packing materials) that would be needed for a Shipment. There doesn't seem to be a way of defining what’s needed in terms of Inventory Parts that would get picked up as a Demand in the system. I would like these to be ordered as and when required, in advance, so the packing structure for the Shipment could be created and the Pallets/Cartons ordered prior to actually packing the Parts. Unless I’m missing something it appears as if the actual packing materials are always assumed to be on hand in the warehouse. But I can’t believe that’s the case, knowing the capability of IFS. Hi, I hope this will be an easy one for people. I’m using Apps 9. For Purchased Parts, I can understand how to update the Inventory Part Estimated Material Cost using the Update Estimated material Cost using either Latest or Average Purchase Cost, which are themselves recalculated on a regular basis. But it doesn't seem to be so straightforward to update the estimated material cost for a manufactured part. I can calculate Cost Set 2 (estimated material cost) for all manufactured parts but how can I then update the Estimated Material Cost on the Inventory Part with this figure. Or use the lot/batch cost history to calculate the latest/average material cost in a similar way to purchased parts. Or doesn't it matter that the Estimated Material Cost is not kept updated. Thanks!

Are there any key indicators that would give a good indication of how these sites are managing with MRP? Such as the number of manual transfers, the number of PMRP orders vs MRP orders, the number of duplicate parts in project inventories, etc. Your help would be appreciated? Thanks guys!

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to generate a report that is exportable to Excel of the information on the IPAP / Planning Info tab for all/many parts? In other words, a table view of all/many parts (query’able) that lists inventory part no, last year in/out, current year in/out etc etc. I need to be able to get the usage information (for all parts transacted) into Excel to be further analysed.
