Supply chain order analysis table

Hi David,I had similiar problems with temporary tables but was able to solve that the “old” ETL way.Fetch/Extract data from ORACLE into MS SQL Server.Transform it e.g. into a FACT_CustomerOrderLine table.Transform DIM_ tables.Create (once) a (Sales) cube.Load data from the star-schema in the DWH into the cube.Do this every night.Performance?Should be very well as long as you avoid fetching the APIs.It is not always possible but to give an example:Instead of using the MCCOM_SYSTEM_EVENT_API.Get_Description justuse the “underlying” table and left outer join it.API “results” will mostly have 4000 char width :-(The following ScreenShot displays the amount of time we need to create an FACT_CustomerOrderLine table in the DWH.So, around 5000 records per second.And the BI Server is with 64 GB RAM not this oversized! So I agree with Shawn when you stay within the ORACLE DB.Using copied data in the MS SQL Server is not alway this simple but you can do what you want anytime you want with your dat

Hi Alan,just saw, that nobody answered yet. :-)I’m not shure if “my way” is of some help…You mentioned “invoice”:Is it a CustomerInvoice(Line) or a InstantInvoice?We created a solution where we used the following tables. The FACT_CustomerInvoiceLines is used as a “data-layer” with other “layers” like CustomerOrderLines (COL) (where you see ExpectedInvoiceDate, ExcpectedTurnOver, etc from COLs not yet invoiced)This “layers” are combined to one FACT_Sales as THE base for a sales cube within MS Analysis Services.To give you a hint here the calculation of the first (of 3) ContributionMargin(s):Because there are “part” invoices (2 or more invoices for the same customer order) we calculate InvoicedQty to COL.BuyQtyDue.Some AccountGroup(s) are “nulled” because the customer don’t want them within the calculation of the contribution margin.If you want to have a talk to the responsible person there (head of controlling department)I can arrange that. Hi Ali,I recommend - as always :-) - the “ETL - way”.Bring data every night from ORACLE to a MS SQL DWH (DataWareHouse) - DB and than do with your data what you want.We created a complete purchase solution as follows:-- FACT_PurchaseOrderInvoice PIL-- FACT_PurchaseOrderLines POL-- FACT_PurchaseOrderChargeLines POC-- FACT_PurchaseInvoiceLines MANThe “Alias” is also used as “FactSource”.So you can see your data “combined” or “solo” from one “data layer”. Is there a way to add custom attributes to a Crystal report? (IFS Cloud)

Hi Mayumi,I would always recommend the “old” ETL way.Export data to a MS SQL DB (a DWH), build a star-schema and - if you want - an Analysis Services (OLAP) Cube.From this cube you can easily use every common front end tool.Crystal, Excel pivot, PowerBI, you name it.The big advantage:Because with the DWH and the cube you have a “single point of truth” and not one e.g. order entry from 09:00 and one from 11:30.One of my customers in CH told me: “The moment we startet to use the cube, we ended the long discussions, which report to use!”If you need more information about this “way”, just tell me.All the bestMichael

Hi Dawn,wellcome to the community and a lot of fun talking to all the experts here!I would recommend a QuickReport (QR) on ORACLE View OUTGOING_INVOICE_QRY or betterfetch data from INVOICE_ITEM_TAB joined to INVOICE_TABJust use SUM() on NET_CURR_AMOUNT or NET_DOM_AMOUNT. GROUP BY INVOICE_DATE (from INVOICE_TAB) We import this tables every night into a DataWareHouse (MS SQL) and create a Star-Schema + Cubes every day. This way you have maximum of flexibility.hope this helps.Michael

Does IFS have any sales forecasting functions?

Hi Ron,we developed a BI solution and combined CustomerInvoiceLines (CIL) and CustomerOrderLines(COL)(and 8 other “data layers”) into a major FACT_Sales table.The COL are filtered to “not yet invoiced”.From this COL-“layer” we created a field called “ExpectedInvoice” and a field “ExpectedInvoiceDate”.There is some logic in both fields but the main idea is:Look into COL and ask: When do they probably get invoiced?Imagine a “hard fact” TurnOver Line the weeks until yesterday (we fetch data every night)and a “soft fact” ExpectedTurnOverLine beginning with today and reaching out into the near future.The same with OrderQuotationLines (OQL), one of the mentioned “data layer” in the FACT_Sales.Even BusinessOportunities (BO) are integrated but not yet “lined up” to ExpectedTurnover.Very interesting stuff you are talking about!We are working on a solution called RoFo - Rolling Forecast especially for individual production(all companies using IFS project management and/or service management)All

Inventory Management- "Inventory Part in Stock" Report

Hi,we import every night all data from INVENTORY_PART_IN_STOCK (IPIS) into tables in the DataWareHouse with tablename_yyyy_mm_dd.Then we compare the difference to a “delta” table every night.So the “comes and goes” of every part is documented in this delta table.If you want to see the exact point, you can use the “snapshot” - table in the DWH.Also we create “monthly” snapshots.What should I say? Hi Sherry,hmmm, I did a QR for service contracts some years ago and will do a quick research into the old scripts.What system you are on, cloud or on premise?Are you familiar with the Debug - Console (in the on prem solution)?To start it, you just Shift-Ctrl-D.If you can start the debugger, and than do the “Analysis” the system will show you exactly what kindof SQL it is performing.Unfortunately my “main” customer don’t work with service contracts and so there a no data in their system. :-(But you can see the ORACLE View SC_SERVICE_CONTRACT in the debug and the system info: Did you ever used the “System Info”?Looks like the following screenshot and also gives a lot of useful information about the structures below your masks. Hi Sherry,in this case I would always recommend a QR or a BI report.Perhaps your colleages not only want to know the revenue of “all” SC but for a given month.Compared with another month (last year).Use filters, like SC-”items”, employees doing the service, etc.Also they perhaps would like to see a “deviation analysis”?So the question there is: When looking into quantity, price and product - mix.What is the percentage of “influence” into a given deviation (e.g. two months in a row or given month compared to same month last year).You see: tons of questions you may ask to get more insight in your data.All the best to you and a nice last “pre” christmas week, Michael
