Safety Stock Analysis Tools available

Hi,I would recommend looking at the IFS IPR (Inventory Planning and Replenishment) functionality as this provides support for calculating and maintaining Safety Stock levels (including Time Phased Safety Stock) based on different Demand Models and Safety Stock models. It also includes an integrated IPR Calculation Results spreadsheet which allows you to analyse the calculation inputs and outputs and perform simulations. Supplier forecast report for raw materials and components

Hi,If you are using MRP to create purchase requisitions, some of our customers use the Purchase Requisition Lines screen as the source of any supplier forecast data.Typically you would then filter by Supplier, Date Range, Products, etc. and either export the data into Excel using Output Channels or develop a Quick Report which uses this data.I hope that this helps.

shop order priority will effect on MRP proposal action?

Hi,MRP does not consider the Shop Order Priority setting.This functionality is used by IFS APB (Advanced Planning Board) and IFS CBS (Constraint Based Scheduling) to determine the most important order when scheduling.It is also used by the Shop Order Auto Processing functionality and can be a filter in the Dispatch Rule drop down list in the Shop Floor Workbench screen.See extract from the IFS Help below;Use this activity to set up the priority rules that will be used on a site. The system will use these rules when you process the reservation order during automatic order processing or schedule the shop orders using Constraint Based Scheduling. This is especially important when the need/due dates of several shop orders fall on the same date, to determine the relative importance of shop orders.

Planning Hierarchy basic data set-up

Hi,The system will always use the Operative Values associated with the Inventory Part which are themselves derived from the Planning Hierarchy.So in other words, the Inventory Part is always the lowest level for the IPR calculation.

APB, Why shop orders are not scheduled with RMB Schedule

Hi,There may be many reasons why APB is unable to schedule and often it is data related.Some things to try …Expand the Shop Order to show the Operations Double left click on the Operations to see more details. In my example, I don’t have a resource associated with the Labour Class so APB is unable to schedule. This can then be corrected here Reload the data into APB. The Shop Order Operations are now scheduled (infinitely scheduled) Select RMB option ‘Scheduling’ Press OK In my example, the operations are now finitely scheduled and tardy (does not meet the Need Date) I hope that this helps.

Set quantity to zero for all inventory part in stock

Hi,You could create a Count Report and then use Find & Replace to insert ‘0’ rather than ‘no value’ in the ‘Counted Qty’ field Press SAVE The benefit of this approach is that it uses standard functionality and validation rather than a script 🙂

QUALITY ASSURANCE-Audit

Hi,The idea of the Focus Area tab is to highlight the reference standard to be audited.I wouldn’t add the detailed questions here as there will probably be too many and it will be difficult to maintain and manage. What usually happens is that the Auditor will have a check-list (Word document) with the questions and they will record the findings in the same document and then store it in IFS Doc Man as an Audit attachment. Any observations or non-conformances can be entered in the Audit / Notes<tab> with NCRs being created directly from the Audit if required. When done, mark the Focus Area as Complete.I hope that this helps.

So in other words, the Compliance Plan is a high-level ‘wall-planner view’ of the the Business Areas and Reference Standards that need to be Audited during the next (say) 18 months.The Audit Plan is then the actual audits which you intend to perform to achieve the Compliance Plan.

Demand Planner Logic for Forecast Output

Hi,The Moving Average functionality doesn’t work like that in IFS Demand Planner.The system computes the sum of the historical demands for the past 3 months and divides by 3 (in your example). This value is then used as the period forecast value for the entire forecast horizon (12 months in your example).The IFS Help describes the functionality like this; Moving Average Sets all the periods of the forecast equal to the average of historical demand. The average is based on the number of most recent periods entered in the Moving Average Periods.

Hi,The internal IFS transactions are in a standard view called Internal_Invent_Part_Issue_PubYou could try out the ‘Base Flow Assistant’ functionality (IFS Apps 10) to see this.Each Base Flow can only look at one view, so you will need to decide which historic transactions you want to use when creating the forecast and ensure that the historic transactions are in the view (if you know what I mean).We have several customers who have written their own views (IFS IALs - Information Access Layer) so that they can point the Base Flows at specific historic transactions which either may not be in the standard IFS views or otherwise need to be cleansed before it is used by Demand Planner.Essentially, you can point the Base Flow at any data source you like, but typically it should contain Contract (Site), Part No, Quantity Issued, Date Issued and Customer. If you do this, you will also need to consider how the data source is updated so that it is up to date when the Create Forecast job is next

Hi,If the Base Flows are using the view IFSAPP.COMB_EXT_INV_PART_ISSUE_PUB they will automatically pick up any new Customer Order deliveries made in IFS so you will not need to add them to the Historical Data table.You can think about it like this …The Base Flows are looking at ‘Combined Sales History’ (IFSAPP.COMB_EXT_INV_PART_ISSUE_PUB) which is a view that is made up from ‘Imported Sales History’ (Historical Data) and ‘IFS Sales History’ (which is the new Customer Order deliveries made in IFS).I hope that this helps.

Demand Planner Logic for Forecast Output

Hi,When you use the Moving Average forecast model it will always be a straight line (based on the average demands of the past 3 months in your example).Try switching to a different forecast model such as EWMA Level and Trend which uses the concept of Moving Average but can add weight to the most recent demands or most recent trends. You can do this directly in the DP Client.Alternatively, you could try forecast model Bayesian which is a good starter if the customer has not used statistical forecasting before.I suspect that you may also need to include Seasonal Profiles depending on what forecast profile the customer is expecting to see.

CRO - Repair Shop Order Project Connection

Hi,This is the way in which the standard functionality works - you cannot connect Component Repair Shop Orders to Project.We’ve addressed this issue previously for a UK customer by developing a configuration (CRIM) to automatically connect the Component Repair Shop Order to a Project Activity (I think it disconnects the Shop Order from the CRO, connects it to Project and reconnects to the CRO).I don’t recall a specific requirement for the Shop Order Materials to be Project Inventory Supply.

Can not edit phase out date in BOM

Hi,I think you have a couple of problems with this.In order to change the Part Type to ‘Purchase(Raw)’ you will need to delete the ‘Purchase’ Product Structure header, but you can’t do that because the status is ‘Buildable’.Even if you could change the status to Retired/Obsolete I don’t think you could then change the Part Status back to ‘Purchase(raw)’ anyway.So the question I would now ask is this;If the part is set up as Part Type ‘Purchased’ (instead of Purchase(Raw)) and the Product Structure is now Phased Out (although not Retired/Obsolete) does it really matter anyway?The customer will still be able to purchase the part in the normal way, and will just need to be aware of any demands for the purchase part which exist prior to the Phase Out Date as the system may start planning for the component parts when (say) MRP is run.Although it is a bit annoying for the customer, I think they should choose this option and see how it goes. It is certainly the preferred option in my opinion

Hi,Search for the part in the ‘Part Revisions’ screen and change the Phase Out Date there.Note that if you start changing Phase In/Phase Out dates, the Phase In Date of any component part must be earlier than or equal to the Phase In Date of the parent part to prevent date conflicts.

CRP Apps 8 - No Calculation Date

Hi,We have the MEP (Manufacturing Enhancement Package) for IFS Apps 8 (SP1) which provides lots of additional functionality (primarily in Planning and Shop Order) which then became standard in IFS Apps 9.I just checked, and unfortunately the CRP ‘Calculation to Date’ does not appear to be in the MEP so that may not help you.A summary of the benefits is listed below;

Order Cycle Time Field

Hi,The Order Cycle Time is entered against the Inventory Part / Planning Data <tab> / IPR Parameters <tab> and is used to define the time in days between how often new order proposals for a part are created.The IPR Parameters <tab> will only be visible if enabled at Site level.

Work Center Setup Matrix

Hi,The Work Centre Set-Up Matrix is typically used in conjunction with IFS APB (Advanced Planning Board) which contains sequencing functionality. The idea is that the system can use the matrix in conjunction with the characteristics to sequence the shop order operations to minimise change over/set up times.

Demand Planner - Manual Historical Demand Planning Data

Hi,It may be because you have to re-aggregate the newly imported demands into the previously closed DP periods so that the demands can be seen and used when the Create Forecast job is run.Some things to try ...Go into the Forecast Parts screen and search for the Base Flow associated with your part (81731). There may be several records (Base Flow and Combined Flow) Select the Base Flow and change the Aggregation Type = ‘Recalculate Historic Demand’ and press SAVE. Run the Create Forecast Job
