shop order priority will effect on MRP proposal action?
if set up priority for shop order, does MRP proposal action will take it at first consideration or not?
eg : two or three shop orders for same Semi-FG with same finished date or entered date, if put priority 1 for SO#2, MRP will take SO#2 as first demand or supply, then consider the rest SO#1 or SO#3?
Please advice.
Thanks

Hi,
MRP does not consider the Shop Order Priority setting.
This functionality is used by IFS APB (Advanced Planning Board) and IFS CBS (Constraint Based Scheduling) to determine the most important order when scheduling.
It is also used by the Shop Order Auto Processing functionality and can be a filter in the Dispatch Rule drop down list in the Shop Floor Workbench screen.
See extract from the IFS Help below;
Use this activity to set up the priority rules that will be used on a site. The system will use these rules when you process the reservation order during automatic order processing or schedule the shop orders using Constraint Based Scheduling. This is especially important when the need/due dates of several shop orders fall on the same date, to determine the relative importance of shop orders.
Thanks for your feedback. We did not use APB and CBS as it is not apply for.
If this priority can not be effected on MRP proposal action. does IFS have another field or function to be set up to limit MRP action, like some PO/SO do not want to be proposed when MRP run? please help to advise.
Thanks
Susan
One more relative question is when MRP proposal action, is it possible to have it be rescheduled per SO enter date sequence for the same Semi-FG item?
Thanks

Hi,
Apologies for the delay.
It isn’t really possible to restrict or limit the MRP actions that are generated when a part is planned by MRP, but you could use saved searches or the MRP Action Proposal Workbench (MRP Message Filters) to restrict what proposals the user actually sees.
So you would just let MRP create the proposal actions but you wouldn’t then act upon them (so in other words, you would ignore them).
Obviously you would need to understand the implications of ignoring the messages as demand and supply may not then be in balance.
Alternatively, you could consider using a different planning policy for the parts if you don’t want MRP to plan them.

Hi,
If I understand the question correctly, the rescheduling capability is there for existing Shop Orders if you want accept the new dates proposed by MRP (see screenshot).
This will need to be actioned for each Shop Order where there is Late Order / Early Order action proposal.
Otherwise, it is possible for IFS APB (Advanced Planning Board) to automatically schedule all of the Shop Order Operations for the Semi-Finished Items based on the date sequence (but I know that you are not using that functionality)
