IFS Demo Environment for testing purposes

As a user of Apps 10 you should be able to make arrangements with one of the IFS existing accounts representatives to get use of the RACE environment which would contain all functionality offered in Apps 10 UPD 9. 90 day licenses are probably available to your company for a RACE environment, which could be installed in less than 1 day.

Apps9 Custom Event Actions

I was about to agree fully with Charith E above. But I tried to log into a couple of customers to confirm the advice he has given. I see the IS NULL comparison in Apps 10 event actions. But I noticed that it is NOT available in Apps 9. So I’ll partly agree with Charith on this one.However the IS NULL operator is definitely the way to go with comparisons of this type. The IS NULL comparison operator was designed for comparisons with NULL values and will respond with the normal TRUE / FALSE values. Equals or not equals comparison operators will give neither TRUE nor FALSE response when compared to a Null value, fyi. So do as Charith says and use IS NULL comparison wherever possible if you are working in Apps 10 or above.

Possible to Add Debugging to Print Agent software?

Correction to “Recreated in core” entry above….PLSQL_REST_SENDER_API actually does exist in internal environments. Assistance from a developer would be needed to set up such a call to attempt to recreate the result noted by the customer.

Apps 9 - Middleware Reconfigure Failed

I met with Brent Wilson and other IT contacts at this customer. At Charith’s suggestion we tried using the \bin folder scripts. We were successful and were then able to reconfigure using their new server certificate successfully as well. The users were able to log into their Prod instance and all is well again.

@Anne Fernando - I’ve logged into the mws of the affected customer (a cloud customer, fyi). In the relevant Routing Address entry I see HTTP Method of “PATCH”. If I understand your response of last month correctly then PATCH should be the value which is passed to this REST API call, correct? Please confirm. Is there any other condition or configuration which might override this value for HTTP Method? If not I suspect I may need to have the customer in question check the receiving end of this interface to confirm whether or not the message being sent to the 3rd party by IFS is actually passed with HTTP Method’s value as “PATCH”.

Thank you @UDLELK. I’ve reviewed the document referenced in your previous reply. In it I noted how ‘PATCH’ may be specified as a parameter - and also how ‘POST’ would be used if no value for HTTP_Method were to be specified by Routing Address or by PLSQL code. Is it possible that this customer’s PLSQL code is somehow not working as intended and therefore is defaulting to POST? If so, how could we troubleshoot or monitor this process to find out. The customer claims to have set up an Event Action for their process and has sent a screen shot for it. They have also created some Routing Addresses. I’ve attached each of these documents here.A related question - is it also possible that none of the Routing Addresses attached here are being triggered or referenced by the customer’s process? If yes, what should be checked to confirm whether or not these settings have been configured correctly and are being used by our customer’s process? If a shared session would help please so state

Performance of Get_Posted_Job_Arguments

Hello Devni,One million rows stored in an Oracle table should not be a big problem for database performance. But in the case you’ve described, i.e. searching for values within the PROCEDURE_NAME column while at the same time using the UPPER() function, will slow your search by causing the Oracle SQL parsing routines which send this query to the database to search every row in the table (full table scan). When a table gets above 50,000-100,000 rows then this can become time consuming. A way to work around this problem would be to create an index for the PROCEDURE_NAME column. But even if this were to be done there is a second issue created by use of the UPPER() function. When SQL functions are used in a query then indexes won’t be used and Oracle would go back to the full table scan method to find the wanted value(s). Also, creation of the index I suggested could add to performance problems on the table in use here, TRANSACTION_SYS_LOCAL_TAB. So consult with a person who has Oracl

Application Server Tasks Were Set to Cancelled Status - What caused this to happen?

The customer sent us a set of screen shots of their cancelled tasks (which I’ve attached here). They also sent us an IFSDUMP and copy of database alert log which I’ve reviewed as you suggested, Anne. I couldn’t find any reference to any of these tasks in them. I also looked other errors which I might’ve associated with this incident but didn’t recognize anything I saw in them as such. We still have those copies available for further review if needed.

CBS - Unhandled Exception

LABAHU is correct about the 32 bit version of Oracle client when using CBS. This is likely the cause of the Oracle error shown above. Make sure the CBSSERVER user’s credential is valid (it’s case sensitive, of course). Also make sure to use the correct version of CBS installation media, i.e. probably the one from the most recent UPD-level delivery, when installing.Also, once the Oracle connectivity issue has been resolved, note there is Manufacturing-related configuration which should be done prior to (or concurrent with) CBS server installation. Make sure the CBSSERVER user has been authorized for the company and site which is intended for use with the CBS process. Once the initial installation has been completed the CBS service will throw errors unless this has been done and at least one valid flow has been created for the service. A business analyst with background in Manufacturing can help in this area.

Applying Print Agent Updates

Print Agent service must be applied manually. There are multiple reasons for this. Print Agent services should be tailored to match up with a customer’s own physical locations. If a customer has a central site they could possibly get by with a single Print Agent service. If they have multiple sites they would likely want a Print Agent service for each site. Print Agent services should be as close to a customer’s physical printer devices as possible and ought to part of the same network domain. To do otherwise is to work against the intent and design of Print Agent functionality.The Print Agent tool has been designed to minimize network traffic of our customers. A working Print Agent service polls for print jobs which have been stored in a customer’s database in a compressed format. When it finds such jobs it pulls them in, decompresses them and sends them to the designated printer (hopefully a local one). By sending compressed jobs to localized PA services data traffic on the
