Could you please provide information regarding the current values for both IFS session timeout and application timeout in the HA configuration?

Hi Feng,From the perspective of Maintenix in IFS Cloud, the Session and Absolute timeouts are controlled by configuration parameter in the database. These values can be configured for each deployment to meet the needs of the business, even in cases where multiple systems are sharing infrastructure.In our terminology Idle/Inactivity/Session timeout represents the concept of invalidating a session after a period of inactivity. This is a short timeout. Session timeouts are used to ensure that an unmonitored computer does not give unintended access to the system.Absolute timeout will end a user’s session after an inelastic quantity of time after login, regardless of whether they are actively using the session or not. Absolute timeouts are intended to represent a work shift, and thus the default value is 8 hours. The user sessions will be invalidated after their shift ends.In your presented scenarios, we recommend absolute timeout to be larger than session timeout, in order to avoid the iss

Are work packages automatically generated in 8.1 sp3 of Maintenix and what auto generates them??

Hi Lauri,This is an indicator that the customer in question may not have a formal process for closing work package prior to the Release to Service. If their operations demanded a serviceable state before flight, then completing the work package would be mandatory by process. However, there is nothing in Maintenix that will interrupt your efforts to record flights or add usage to an aircraft while there is an open work package. This type of constraint may pose an operational risk. One constraint in this area is that the software will prevent you from starting a work package at a different location than the open work package.Another potential option is the complete work package constraints. There are several configurable parameters that will present Warnings or Errors on work package closure using the Preview Release feature. It is possible that the customer aircraft are not meeting the maintenance release rules, and thus it would not be possible to complete the work package and bring th

I see that you organization is an active adopter of PP&C. The skill histogram in PP&C uses the existing HR information (crew assignments, user shift patterns, primary skills, absences) to compare available people against the skill demands of the job cards.As a planner, you will benefit by having the histogram broken down by primary skill to detect where the plan will have skill shortages over the life of a work package, and day-to-day as you see who is missing from today’s shifts. You will see issues before they occur. This could lead to decisions where you reschedule the work package execution plan, or you bring in skilled labor from a different part of the organization to address the shortfall by using temporary crew assignments. Can Status Board Headers be made Stick/Fixed on scroll?

Hi Bobby,There is no option for this on Status Boards. The functionality is named SCROLLABLE_TABLE_ROWS, and I’ve written a Knowledge Article about it. The Status Boards will use the SCROLLABLE_TABLE_DEFAULT_HEIGHT parameter, which may help a little.I looked at the code that generates Status Boards, and there is a developer’s note on the page that scrollable is manually deactivated due to issues found during implementation.

Hello Hiwot,Yes it is possible to integrate these two systems. Depending on your expectation and needs, the Human Resources API can be used to load Maintenix with information in real time. The initial setup is done using UI workflows to assign your users to regular shifts, and the HR API’s Shift adjustment scenarios can be used in cases where someone is assigned temporarily to a different shift or a different work crew.

Oracle 23C support with Maintenix

Hi Rob,IFS intends to certify Oracle 23c for IFS Cloud 25R1, aligned with Maintenix 8.3-SP12. IFS participated in Oracle 23c BETA testing throughout 2023 and our analysis around the suitability of Maintenix on this platform continues.According to Oracle Doc ID 742060.1, Oracle 23c is set for on prem release in H1 CY2024 for exadata and Linux x86-64. The version of Oracle Database that applies to your infrastructure may differ.Our upcoming release of 8.3-SP9 will not be certified on Oracle 23c. Our future certification for this platform on future versions will be dependent on Oracle’s release cadence.

How to handle banned parts

Hi,The above two answers may work well for IFS Apps, or IFS Cloud customers. Whereas IFS Maintenix customers may need to implement alternate solutions.The solution proposed by Olivier may be the only solution to meet your needs. It will depend on the organization creating and scrapping large amounts of inventory, on the assumption there is a discrete list of all affected serial numbers.If the problem affects a unique part number and manufacturer combination, then the part can be unapproved/rejected in the baseline configuration. With the part number unapproved this does not prevent any activity other than the installation of the component. A part advisory can be added to the part number, and optionally specify a range of serial numbers, that will warn users at every step of PO creation, inventory receipt, and inspection, but will not offer any hard stops.

Fault Definition use of Failure Category and Failure Type Field?

Hello @Robert Bellemare Could you please explain the reason why FAULT priority if a parameter that cannot be set manually on a fault raised manually? Do you a MTX setting to allow this? What would be your recommendation to have this linked to a scheduling NOTIFICATION parameter? Thanks Hi Olivier,To be plain, I cannot explain why it is not editable. This functionality has been in this state for well over a decade, and I can only assume that the fault priority was invented solely for fault definitions and it was not extended into adhoc faults. I am not aware of any setting that will expose this functionality in Maintenix.There is a good case to be made for this request to be created as an Idea. If you are able to articulate what you would use it for, and what value it will bring to the business that will improve the visibility. Is there a reason the Task Priority could not be used instead to achieve your goals? I can infer that it would be better to isolate your intended solutio

Does anyone know how KIT contents is tagged within the Data Base, that it is "IN KIT"?

Hi Reg,The h_inv_no_id and nh_inv_no_id in the inv_inv table are the basis for forming inventory hierarchies and relationships between BATCH, SER, TRK, ASSY, and ACFT.Contrary to these other inventory type, KITs are using their own mapping table to maintain this relationship as there are additional requirements for tracking these relationships. How do Operators track LOTO (lock-out/tag-out) within Maintenix

I am currently looking at using the “Master Panel Card” Functionality to act as LOTO Tracking. This will involve creating Circuit Breakers, Fuses and other Safety Devices as Panels against the assembly. These will then require Open and Close Task Definitions not unlike a Panel for an MPC. For example Circuit Breaker 1234 in Zone 6789 is created as a “Panel” against the Assembly. An associated Open and Close Definition is then created as you would for a Panel. An MPC is then created to for the LOTO Devices. Once the LOTO “MPC” is Active, when the LOTO Devices (Panels) are added to the Zones and Panels Tab of the JIC or other Task Definition they will spawn a LOTO MPC Task within a Work Package. The MPC Functionality will detail which LOTO Devices when Open/Removed are displayed as Open Panels on the Preview Release for a given Work Package. Please note I am still testing this solution. Flight Disruption Functionality

@Robert Bellemare fixes for the ‘search page’ or ‘create disruption page’? ie /web/flightdisruption/CreateEditFlightDisruption.jsp Just checking😁 as Qantas requested that ‘Maintenance Event’ be changed to barcode. hoping thats ones still there, its the only clunky part of the process if the disruption is raised manually after. Also, was SP4 the version that added the Disruptions tab against the flight. Great new featur.. Qantas have used the flight disruption feature for some time, using only mx we streamlined another process, developed a few reports and were able to remove the need for entire system and its database. Sorry Bobby, I definitely mentioned the correct page. One fix is related to searching by aircraft, it needs to be adapted to use the new data model elements used to fix the aircraft swap workflow.The second fix is for the delay code showing the character set code instead of special characters as they should appear.An issue that may be related was an error in assi

Flight Disruption Functionality

Hi Zachary and Sean,I have some good news for you both. The product limitation with tail swaps on flights disruptions was resolved in 8.3-SP6, under the tracking number OPER-43494, and MXC-I-815 through the Enhancement Request process.In 8.3-SP4 the ability to delete a flight disruption was added to the product.Assigned to developer right now as part of ongoing maintenance of this feature, we have two fixes planned for the flight disruption search page, which I anticipate will be part of the 8.3-SP9 release.

As there are many pieces of valuable information in this document about the inner workings of Maintenix logic, there was an effort to migrate the bulk of the verifiable data into the User Guide for 8.3-SP2.You are asking for the Standard Airline Solution documentation from 8.1-SP1. Hello Esayas,This is achievable with a specific workflow that involves removing a component in a backdated work package and inducing a erroneous timeline of removals and installs. Let’s say a component was installed on an aircraft at time t-2. On date t-3 one cycle was accrued against the aircraft. On date t-1 two cycles were accrued. The component has 2 cycles of usage, since it only participated in flights for date t-1.What can happen from this point is for a backdated removal of the component to occur at date t-4. The real time is t+0, a work package is started with a date in the past of t-4, we find the usage for the aircraft and assemblies at date t-4. Any removed or installed component will have its usage adjusted by Assembly Current Usage - Work Package Assembly Usage. In the example above, the delta is 3 cycles. If you remove the component in this way, we will apply a usage adjustment of 3 cycles to the removed component, and it will end up with -1 cycles of usage.In the case o

Batch, part-number based task completions

CS202305-64029 was our original case for this question. I reviewed this ticket today, and it presents an interesting dilemma for repairable batch inventory. What is being asked of the system in this case is to maintain traceability of EO execution against a component whose part number has been elected to be a batch part. This batch component has been sent externally for repair and later received back into the organization. This is a level of historical context that is better suited to serialized or tracked part numbers. Batched inventory can operate as an individual component in some respects. However, it should not be expected that it be the same as uniquely identifiable, serialized inventory that is maintained and tracked as the component is issued into service, or sent outside of the organization.Tasks not being returned by the search, in the case as it was raised, is a byproduct of the system not being able to guarantee the tracking of a non-tracked part. Hi Ainsley,You have discovered an issue that has never been reported previously. I have reproduced the issue you are referring to on the page coined Task Search, or Unconstrained Task Search. The same issue does not affect the Task Search by Type page. The Task Search by Type has the option to search for historical tasks using the part number.I would encourage you to raise this issue through Maintenix support so it can be further evaluated.

Hi all,Thanks everyone for their contributions.There is some configuration in this area, but it does not address the concern you are putting forward.I can add that in 8.3-SP5, Maintenix received a new role permission SHOW_ASSIGNED_TASKS_TAB_FIRST which will configure by role whether the workscope or assigned tasks tab should appear by default when opening work packages. Prior to this change, the workscope tab is the one to open first, if a workscope was generated. For planning roles, most of the work is done from the Assigned Tasks tab. This role configuration has removed one page load from the user workflows for users and roles that predominantly work with blocks and requirements, rather than on execution.Please refer to the 8.3-SP5 release notes for more information in the section titled ‘Customizing tab order on Work Package Details page’. The topic is also documented in the Administration Guide.

Finding a way to administrate Fault Definition (FD) in MTX

Hi Olivier,The administration of fault definitions can be achieved using the Diagnostics Adapter. Please see this guide for more information. The Diagnostics adapter can be used to create, edit, and mark fault definitions as obsolete.The table fail_mode has a column obsolete_bool. When set to 0, it will set a fault definition as obsolete. The fault definition will still appear in the fault definition search, but it will no longer appear as a selectable fault definition when raising a fault.It would be best to set this Boolean to 1, and also to change the name of the fault definition to ensure that all stakeholders to this process have visual cues that a fault definition is obsolete.

Hi Olivier,I hope this reply finds you well. You have correctly identified that Fault Priority, Failure Category, and Failure Type can be elements defined on a fault definition. Only the last of the three is available for ADHOC faults.There is no parent-child relationship between Failure Category and Failure Type.The fields are intended to provide decision support to the planners, so that resolution or mitigation of the faults can be prioritized correctly.The Fault Priority can be defined on the Fault Definition in the following location. This can be easily confused with the Task Priority. The fault priority is defined on the fault definition The fault priority appears on the fault information tab The task priority can be set when raising an open fault Task priority appears on the task information tab

Hi 737spanner,Thank you for visiting and contributing.We agree, during design phase we regularly seek feedback from our implementation partners, but this process is not perfect. Oil uptake, which was once billed as the ‘Single-Screen Oil Consumption Logging’ feature, is one such feature that was implemented with a launch partner. The terminology used in the final product is a result of that collaboration.Other terms used in Maintenix are attempting to be generic and universal. The term ‘inventory’ can be applied to ATA chapters as well as it can be applied to rotables, serialized components, or consumables.Maintenix is a product that is also used in settings outside of commercial aviation, and in multiple languages.
