Route planning with charging stations for electric vehicles

Hi Charlotta,In the existing software (version 6.10+), we support an implicit model for handling recharging of electric vehicles. The forms part of the ‘Travel Cost Model’ functionality, which now includes the options to increase the journey time when certain thresholds are met. So if you have an electric vehicle that needs recharging after 100km say, then the DSE can extend the journey time by a configurable amount (perhaps 45 minutes) to allow for this, when this threshold is reached.In the next release (6.12) we intend to also support an explicit model, whereby the remaining charge in the vehicle is represented as a part, and the vehicle can be scheduled to visit a recharging depot to re-fill when necessary. Note that this would require the available recharging points to be loaded into the system as part of the load data.Thanks,Paul

PSO Bucket Implementation

Hi Anchal,I can answer this from the PSO data side. If you need an answer related to how to set the data up in IFS Cloud then you may need some further help from someone else.There are a few restrictions on the functionality that can be used with a bucket resource, but for the most part you can use all the same functionality as you can with a standard resource.So for your examples:You could restrict which work the bucket resource is able to carry out using regions, skills or a maximum travel constraint. It sounds like a skill constraint could be used here. You can use the Resource_Preference entity for this. This can be linked to resource types and activity types to more easily set the data up. Any preference of less than 0.5 will discourage the use of the specified resources or resource types. So the simplest thing would be to set a preference between all activity types you wish to discourage and all resource types for bucket resources with a preference value of perhaps 0.3.Thanks,Pau

IFS PSO- Error in Events

Hi Ashish,Apologies that you didn’t get an earlier reply on this, it’s just been flagged as unresponded to. I expect it’s too late to be of any help, but the error and first warning relate to sending the plan output back to FSM. It sounds like there was an issue with the OpenID setup on that side. The ‘Failed to add travel’ warning can indicate some issue with the data which means that a resource is being expected to start travelling to 2 different activities at once. We did also fix a bug related to this recently though where the warning was due to some duplication of data, so it may also be that (in which case the warning can just be ignored).Thanks,Paul

Hi Lorenzo,In PSO a resource can have their own part stock, and can also collect parts from depots. If the resource has the parts they require in their own stock they will use that. If not, they can visit a depot and pick up parts from there. These will get added to their own part stock ready to be used. It’s also possible to set capacities on the resource part stock and limits on the number of parts held in each depot. I’m not sure I full understand the scenarios you are trying to model, but it sounds like both should be achievable through the use of depots. I’m not sure what support there is via FSM for this however.Thanks,Paul

Meaning of Is Proportional Field

Hi Tom,It means that the non membership period is proportional to the applicable period. For example, suppose you set the minimum applicable period to 2 days and the minimum non membership period to 1 day. Then the proportion is 2:1, so each period of membership must be followed by a period of non-membership of at least half the membership time. So if the resource is planned into the rota within the membership category for 2 weeks then the rule would mean they would need 1 week of non-membership.Thanks,Paul

Automatic rota generation and existing shifts

Hi Tom,It should consider any existing shifts already planned within the rota period that you are generating for (and generate new shifts around those already generated). For rules it should also be considering activities planned outside the generation period, though it’s possible there could be issues with this - if you think there is please raise a case for us.Thanks,Paul

FSM / PSO Appointment Booking Request

I guess it would be best to use 3 ‘placeholder’ activities, one at each location, but yes you could in that case send all 3 requests at once. I’d advise using the ‘non-blocking’ appointment booking option to avoid blocking out time at each centre unnecessarily.

FSM / PSO Appointment Booking Request

Hi,From the PSO side I think you would need something in FSM to determine which dealers are near to a given customer and sort them be distance. This should be fairly simple if you use straight line distance and it would also be possible to request the HTM estimated distance from PSO is necessary.Once you have this you could potentially send an appointment request for each dealer you wish to consider into PSO, and the appointment booking engine could then tell you which slots are available. If this is a very simple problem you may not need to use PSO for it however.Hope this helps,Paul

PSO Completed Job on the Gantt is Missing

This looks like a problem in the input data. It may be that a new load has been sent and the completed activities have been sent in with only the ‘completed’ activity status, so the system no longer has knowledge of when the activities were started. It’s probably something to get someone on the FSM side to investigate.

SDS Deleting Work Assignments

Hi,The dispatch service rules can be set up so that the service will suggest unassigning work in some circumstances. If you don’t want it to do this the simplest way to prevent it is to set the ‘LogoffUncommit’ rule to 0. Not Seeing Modelling Data in PSO Resource Shift with Apps 10

Hi,On the PSO side, the full integration of resource planning data into the scheduling dataset is only performed when a rota is created and shifts have been set up in the ARP. In particular, resources are only mapped from resource planning to the scheduling dataset if they have shifts created during the scheduling period. If you have no rota at all then only base data such as the travel cost models themselves will be mapped across.If you want to load shift data from the IFS Apps side without using the resource planner, then you would need to ensure that the resources are sent from IFS Apps to PSO with the travel cost model attribute set correctly on the resource. It may also be possible to switch off loading the shifts from IFS HR and only load them from the ARP. I’m not familiar with the details on the integration side though -  hopefully someone with more knowledge of that side of things can help!Thanks,Paul

Schedule Follow-Up Visit for Incomplete Activity

Hi,The ‘incomplete’ status indicates that the activity could not been completed successfully by the resource. Often this will need a new visit will need to be scheduled, but usually with some different requirements, such as skills or parts. There may also be different SLA requirements and/or availabilities. As such the new visit would be expected to be created in the external system and sent through o PSO as a new activity.For splittable activities, we also support a status of ‘visit complete’ for a visit. This indicates that the visit to the activity is completed, but the resource is expecting to return (usually the next day) to continue the work. In this case the DSE would automatically schedule a ‘Follow Up’ visit. There is more information about splittable activities in the ‘Scheduling Concepts - Split Activities’ guide, and about activity statuses in the ‘Scheduling Concepts - Status Changes’ guide.Thanks,Paul

Possibility of zero downtime updates?

Hi,This isn’t something that is currently offered, though an upgrade of PSO wouldn’t be expected to take more than around 30 minutes.One alterative you could consider is to run multiple PSO systems, e.g. one for Eurasia and one for Americas. This should then give you an upgrade window on each system.Thanks,Paul

PSO - REST API

Just to add to this, the last internal id processed is also included in the plan row in the output (input_reference_internal_id), so this provides a way of seeing if the input you sent has been processed in that plan.
