Good afternoon. We have recently migrated our IFS Apps 8 SP1 instance to a new data centre on a new virtual device. The old instance uses an http url to access the Dev, Test and Live instances:http://################:61080/client/runtime/Ifs.Fnd.Explorer.application (Live url)We want to change this to an HTTPS connection. Please can you advise the steps required to implement the change in Apps 8 and any other useful hints/tips?Best regards - Simon Brooker
All,Looking for some guidance. IFS Apps 8 SP1 installation. We had a major incident yesterday when users lost the ability to carry out the Shop Order Receipt process - users were receiving an ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small. The issue began at 11:11. We finally resolved the matter some time later after finding that a number of packages, but critically INVENTORY_TRANSACTION_HIST_API, had the NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS changed from CHAR to BYTES at exactly the time the issue began. We reviewed all other instances of IFS (Dev, Test and another copy of Live) and the parameter is set to CHAR. We changed INVENTORY_TRANSACTION_HIST_API from BYTE to CHAR and the issue was resolved. In our system parameters we have the following setting which as I understand it means we are operating a Unicode system We have reviewed all packages across Dev, Test and Live and there are number of inconsistencies between CHAR and BYTE.Questions are:Should all packages be set
Dear colleagues,IFS Applications 8 Installation. We are a UK Fast Moving Food Manufacturing Company who export and import raw materials/finished products. We are in the final stages of Brexit readiness and have hit a stumbling block with regard to Purchase Charges (import/duty fees).A number of the inventory parts for which we require charges to be recognised at the time of receipt of the inventory are standard costed parts. Please can you advise whether there is anyway the charge can be receipted to a goods received not invoiced account at the time the inventory is received for a standard costed part?If needs be we can set up a separate GL account where the charge can go to if it can not be distributed as part of the inventory part (due to the inventory part being standard costed) however we would still like to be able to recognise a liability for the charge at the point of receiving the inventory, so using either posting control M189/M187 or a new posting control.Any help/guidance wou
Good afternoon all, I have recently joined an organisation as Business Systems Manager. We are running IFS Apps 8 with JBOSS 5.1.2. middleware (looking to start an upgrade project very soon).Approximately every 4 - 6 weeks, all users (c500) lose connection to the Production system, the issue is resolved by restarting the JBOSS server. The loss of connections often happen towards the end of the week, later in the working day.Our infrastructure/middleware is all managed by a third party who have not implemented any JVM monitoring and internally we have not set up any integration monitoring or monitoring of the JBOSS application server. In our JBOSS server logs I have seen a few java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space errors and lots of socket write errors. In my previous experience (20+ years SAP) the java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space errors have been known to be critical and cause loss of connectivity due to memory exhaustion or poor garbage collection housekeeping.I am lo
IFS Apps 8, JBOSS 5.1.2.I am only two months into my role of Applications Manager in my company. I have 20 years previous in SAP, but new to IFS - hence my request for guidance/advice.Intermittently, every 4 - 6 weeks, normally later in the week (Friday - Sunday), we experience a sudden loss of connection to our IFS Production system. My support team have routinely resolved this by a JBOSS restart which more often than not resolves the issue.I have initiated root cause analysis and I can see on the JBOSS EAP server log that we are seeing lots of socket write errors, and, just prior to the downtime, java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space. In my previous experience these errors have been fatal and caused downtime due to exhaustion of memory, often down to memory intensive processing and poor housekeeping around Garbage Collection.I have copied the JBOSS server log file at the foot of this email.I would welcome any advice/guidance in terms of root cause analysis and review of Heap/
