FSM Odata - Save null/empty value to a field

Saving an empty value using ODATA API is not possible. The request channel timed out while using ODATA REST API

We have recently upgraded to FSM 6UPD9 to make use of the ODATA REST APIs in order to integrate our external applications with FSM. Very often we are getting a request channel timeout while using the ODATA REST API’s. Once this starts every call fails. Message:Error occurred while getting EDM model from app server.System.TimeoutException: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:00:59.9970047. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. The ODATA rest API's makes a call to the FSM server "<perform_get_updated_odata_edm>" to get the data model. It basically asks for the database table structure of ~1200 tables in FSM, which looks to be a very time-consuming operation. ODATA Rest API $batch operations are not atomic.

Using the ODATA Rest API we are trying to make a batch call with 2 operations in the same call.Insert a new record in the calendar exception Change task statusWe have used an incorrect task status value to ensure the call fails but even though this call fails the 1st call is successful and not rolled back. The operation in the change sets should be atomic. FSM Refresh Cache

We have a load balanced setup of the FSM, running on 3 servers. Whenever we do any changes (for example :- adding a new value to the Global codes or adding new rows to some custom tables), we do a refresh cache (Full). We have observed that when all the Mobile users initializes their devices, only some of them receives the new changes. So they have to initialize multiple times to get the new updates. Questions : 1) I believe it is necessary to do a refresh cache (Full) on all the 3 servers? Does that mean that we download 3 client on 3 machine connecting to 3 different servers and then press Refresh cache individually? 2) Can the refresh cache be triggered through an XML so that we can use the Metrix integration service and post the XML to 3 different servers using SOAPUI or other tools? 3) Does the cache also holds the contents of tables as well? So when the server prepares the mobile sqllite DB does it always query the backend DB tables for data or it uses the cache?

If we have a custom sync rule joining the task table, all the task columns are set NULL (in mobile DB) if not specified in the attributes to extract. FSM Archive

When archiving old records in FSM, we came across the below tables which has high number of rows in DB. Table Number of rows MX_U 3853707649THREESIXTY_OUTPUT_HISTORY 1203634PERSON_LOGIN_HISTORY 482363CONTACT 1408553 What is the use of table MX_U ? Can we cleanup old records ? Is there any built-in cleanup mechanism for THREESIXTY_OUTPUT_HISTORY and PERSON_LOGIN_HISTORY ? If no, should we consider cleaning up old records? It seems that the CONTACT table also holds the same records as present in TASK_CONTACT table. When archiving, the TASK_CONTACT are getting archived but not from the CONTACT table. How can we archive CONTACT records as well ?

Microsoft Intune - IFS FSM APK file in Managed Google Play private

While trying to use Microsoft Intune as an MDM solution and uploading the IFS FSM APK file in Managed Google Play private (LOB) we are getting a conflict with the package name and an error“Upload a new APK file with a different package name” https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/apps/apps-add-android-for-work Any idea how this can be mitigated ?

Oracle Server Recommendations

Under FSM6OnPremiseInstallation.pdf we can see the below recommendation. Oracle Server Recommendations- Each month, run the script fsm_?_IndexRebuilder.sql where ? represents the current version. We are running FSM 6.1 with an Oracle database. 1) What are the benefits we can get by running it and what are the downsides if it is not run every month?2) What are the precaution (or pre requisites) that should be taken care of before running the script? Do we need some downtime before executing the script?3)This script is also dropping the primary keys and recreating them. What are the risks?

Are there any users/customers who has recently upgraded to PSO 6 update 5 from PSO 6.1?Basically who has upgraded from the Silverlight version and started using the HTML version ( on Chrome and other browsers ).If someone can share their experience, lessons learnt/ challenges faced, it would be great for us to travel that path and get rid of some of the obstacles someone else has already faced.

FSM Business Rule - XML

We have the below XML being triggered from a business rule, after commit insert or update on the TASK table. This XML creates a new address (using a custom view) and updates the address_id of the task. We sometimes see that, if there are 2 TASK’s created almost at the same time (with just 1 second delay or less than 1 second delay) then both the task’s are updated with the same address id. The below expression that is updating the address_id returns the same address_id in both cases. <address_id xpath_node="//update_address_result[@result_name='update_tmfb_address']/address/address_id" /> However we see in the database that 2 new address_id are created but the both the task’s are updated with only 1 of them. So basically when we have 2 similar tasks created at the same time then this business rule executes 2 times and the expression “//update_address_result[@result_name='update_tmfb_address']/address/address_id" doesn’t return unique result. Is it possible to show/hide fields (setControlVisibility) or set some fields as required/not required (setControlRequired) on the FSM Smart Client Screen using Client Script?

Is it possible to show/hide fields (setControlVisibility) or set some fields as required/not required (setControlRequired) on the FSM Smart Client Screen using Client Script? I want to set some fields as not required based on the task_type on the TASK screen, so that I do not get the validation error when saving. If task_type = A set user_def1 as required else if task_type = B set user_def1 as not required

FSM Business Rule input validation question

The business rule input validation TASK.TASK_ID EQUAL some table and column in VALUE_TABLE_NAME and VALUE_COLUMN_NAME field doesn’t work. I am expecting it would verify if the new task_id exists in the VALUE_COLUMN_NAME of VALUE_TABLE_NAME. Is it wrong expectation?
