Within Apps 10 I’m able to connect activities between different projects, using the Planning function but what would be really useful is if you could see that connection on the Gantt view.Is there anyway of seeing connected projects with IFS Apps 10 ?We have large projects which have dependencies from smaller projects, they need to be kept separate for accounting purposes but it does make it hard to see, at a scheduling level, the inter project dependencies.
I’m curious to know how, or if, anyone is using Activity Classes.I can see that Activity Classes are set up in the Project Management Basic Data however I’m unsure of what the Value element of the object refers to and how it is used within the system. We’re thinking that it could be a useful data tag for some specific project reporting that we have to produce but want to understand a little more it’s actual purpose and any potential system impact if used incorrectly.Any pointers gratefully received, thanks
Like a lot of you we are using IFS for managing and maintaining the delivery of our Projects. In IFS we build up the project cost using hours (x number of hours at a set grade = cost to the business) however when we come to do the forecast, either updating the ETC/EAC on the activity line or on a project forecast, the system asks for a monetary value. So, if you’ve got a 200 hour activity made up of 3 different grades and you’ve booked 80 hours in total (a mix of the 3 grades), how do you calculate what the cost to complete is (without using a separate spreadsheet to do the calculations) ?Simple if everything is on track, baseline cost minus actual cost equals cost to complete. Not so simple when you’re are going to need more hours than planned to complete the activity. Currently the only solution I can see is to do the calculations separately to IFS and then input the values into the ETC field, this isn’t an ideal solution and does defeat some of the benefits of having an integrated sol
Is there any way to disable / hide unused graph icons on the resource analysis view?We are not using Maintenance Order, Shop Order or Production Schedule and it would make the view a lot cleaner and simpler if these options could be hidden.
I’m trying to build some Power BI reports based on outputs from IFS but am struggling with a few tables.I particularly interested in resource management, forecast loading and capacity vs planned hours. From Resource Management > Analysis > Resource AnalysisI can see good detail by day, week, month etc, with each option showing me the scheduled capacity hours, utilization capacity hours and available capacity hours however when i then look at the Resource Activity Load Detail for that individual the Schedule Capacity Hours and Utilization Hours show as 0 The ‘Use HR Schedule’ is selected and schedule capacity is set as ‘Finite Capacity’ in the Resource Navigator.I don’t understand why the scheduled capacity hours are not showing on the activity load detail view.
I’m really struggling with the Project Forecast functionality and the matching When I create my forecast I have a new line in it (highlighted) which is not connected to an ActivityWhen I manually add the sub project ID and Activity ID and try and save I get an error messageI do have a snapshot connected but when I disconnect it I lose all the values in the other linesAny advice on what the warning symbol is and how I add the new line to the forecast ?Thank you
Difference in planned cost, reported cost and actual cost.Looking at one of my projects there differences between values being returned on the project transaction view and the project navigator view. We’re only talking a few pounds in this example however it doesn’t make sense and it would be good to know why these differences are there. The difference in planned cost versus reported cost is pence and could be attributed to rounding differences (which in itself is frustrating) however its the total actual cost from project transactions versus total actual cost from the project activity which is causing the confusionAnyone seen this before or know where the values are coming from ?Thanks in advance
I understand that only certain releases of Primavera are supported by IFS.Where can I find the current list of those releases which are supported ?
I’m interested to hear from any companies in the UK who manage subcontractors, off-payroll workers who are considered within IR35, inside of IFS.For example, do you allow them access to IFS for timesheet entry and how do you manage their user/employee files within IFS so as to meet UK tax rules.Any examples of where you are doing this currently would really help. Thanks in advance
