Thanks Bjorn!
Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a solution to this. It seems this is just the logic of MS vs MRP. I don’t understand why it would be different, but it is.
Excellent suggestion. I think sacrificing CRP for correct reqs is the better way to go here and am going to pursue DOP. It’s too bad both cannot be achieved. Maybe in a future update :). Something like a planning method of Next Level demand with demand pass through would fit the bill.
I ran into that problem when testing this out last night. CRP load is not generated for the wheel. Sounds like I have to choose to either generate requisitions for parts I do not necessarily wish to build, or not have visibility to capacity requirements unless the customer orders come in. I have not used RRP. I may have to investigate that further. Thanks!
Matt, The wheel is not an MS part, it is only used in the finished good.“What is your plan for generating the supply for the Wheel if the system does not generate requisitions for the Wheel?” - I would like MRP to generate supply for the wheel only when a customer order is placed for the bike. I think DOP is what I’m looking for. I will do more testing with it and see if it will meet our requirements. Thank you both!!
App 10. We run MRP daily. Shop order reqs are generated for the wheel based on Master schedule for the Bike. Some are for forecast, some are for actual demand.
Hi Matt, The 51st piece should still be in inventory since it hasn’t been issued. Can you simply scrap from inventory and not as “component scrap”?
I found the cause. Supply was manually pegged to the customer order. Removing the pegging now generated an Early order MRP message. Does anyone know if you can have manually pegged orders generate correct MRP messages? The pegged order had a need date 30 days earlier than the customer order.
I typically use IPAP to view supply and demand orders. I checked the MRP Open Supply and Demand Orders screen for this part and it returns nothing. It appears MRP doesn’t recognize this part. MRP Control box is flagged. I must be missing something. Thanks
There is nothing in Gross Requirements or Receipts and Deliveries tab in MRP part information. The customer order supply code is inventory order. Thanks,Eric
I’m answering my own question but it might be helpful to someone else. I’m using a planning time fence of zero days. Everyday after today is outside of the planning time fence. Inventory is available today, so “Roll Flag” must be checked to carry the inventory outside of the planning time fence. If Roll Flag is checked, the inventory on hand is subtracted from the first master scheduled qty.
Hi JStack, Any shop order even in a planned status will drive demand for components on the bill of material. If you do not want to drive demand until the customer order is released, there is a checkbox in customer orders called “Release for Mtrl Planning.” If you uncheck that, it will not generate shop order reqs to fulfill that customer demand until checked. If you need that planned order created, but do not want to drive demand to components, you could also uncheck “Include as Demand” on the Details tab of the Shop Order.
