Alliance 12.5.1.16 build is available (12.5SP1HF16)

This is to inform you that V12.5SP1 Build 12.5.1.16 is available (12.5SP1HF16).This build provides solution for the Google Maps issue described below. In November 2022, Google is planning to release a new version of the Google Maps JavaScript API. This change will automatically remove the latest Google API version that has backward compatibility for Internet Explorer code in Google Maps APIs and therefore still supports maps in Astea Browser.This change means that Google Maps will stop working. To accommodate Google changes, The web browser control used to display Google Maps (Maps JavaScript API) in the Dispatch Console has been replaced with another web browser control that does not require Internet Explorer. No user-configuration changes are required. This build is cumulative, but it should be installed on top of 12.5.1.15, because 12.5.1.15 included 64-bit Alliance Publisher 12.5.1.15 Full (x64).exe, which is a basis for 12.5SP1HF16 update. Service bulletin - Google Maps Alliance Dispatch Console

In November 2022, Google is planning to release a new version of the Google Maps JavaScript API. This change will automatically remove the latest Google API version that has backward compatibility for Internet Explorer code in Google Maps APIs and therefore still supports maps in Astea Browser.This change means that Google Maps in the Astea Browser will stop working in the Dispatch Console module and also in modules that use “find address” functionality, such as Customers and Employees. To accommodate Google changes, R&D has developed a new Maps solution. The attached Service bulletin document describes the issue and provides more detailed explanation.

Department managers cannot approve time sheets

ISSUE / QUESTION: We have two department managers that cannot approve time sheets via the Time Sheet Approvals module. Both are members of the proper groups linked to the approval process flow. RESOLUTION: Recommended that the customer add the ‘fmanager’ role to the manager's Employee Position record. Also, I noticed that the Action Group was not set on the Time Sheet Approval process. This resolved the issue and managers can now approve time sheets.

Error in Order Locator using Serial Number search, Employee Web Portal

ISSUE / QUESTION: Why am I unable to search by serial in "Order Locator" Module. When performing a search by any serial number, I am receiving an error ‘An error occurred while processing this request’RESOLUTION: While the serial number appears valid in the database, the error is received. This issue has been reported by a few customers, and we have addressed the issue in 15.2 HF5.

Next PM Date on Installed Item not calculating properly

ISSUE / QUESTION: Why is the Next PM Date on an Installed Item, Service Info page not updating/recalculating when the Commencement date is modified? The PM Dates tab indicates that while the next PM was due 5/1/2021, it was done late; 7/28/21. The next PM due would have been 11/1/2021 but because the user manually changed the PM Commencement date on the Object of Service Details tab, the Next PM is 1/1/2022 (six months out from the actual last visit). On the Installed Item record, the Next PM Date did not update to 1/1/2022.RESOLUTION: The customer was not using floating PM’s, and needed a resolution as this was causing reporting issues. IFS R&D provided a fix in 15.0.4, whereby, the Next PM Date will be recalculated based on the Completion Date of the last Service Order.

Dispatch Console not connecting in Alliance V15

Dispatch Console not connecting in Alliance V15. To troubleshoot, try the following: Go to the Settings on the server and be sure that the Astea DSE Service is Running. You can try to stop and then start the DSE Service to see it this works. Open Configuration Editor (Start > Programs > AsteaAlliance15.0 > Configuration Tools > Configuration Editor). The Configuration Editor main screen is displayed. In the sections pane, select GENERAL > DSE. In Sections Properties pane, under Allowed External Access, CommunicationWebServerURL, be sure that http:// precedes the IP address (as shown below) and then click Save URL Go back to the application, log out and back in, and try to reload the Dispatch Console. The session should now connect.NOTE: Prior to Alliance Version 15.0, the DSE Server IP address was found on Dispatch Console Session, Main page, under Main Info.

Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms

This question was recently raised by two of our Alliance customers.ISSUE / QUESTION: Getting this error upon launch. Need help.Exception Info ==> 0This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms.ENVIRONMENT: Alliance productRESOLUTION / ANSWER:This is due to security settings for Federal Information Processing Systems (FIPS). This will need to be fixed by your IT professional using the following steps:1. Go to secpol.msc2. Under Local Policies, click “Security Options”3. Navigate to the Policy “System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing”4. Open the policy and set it to disabled.

Open Calls Lookup functionality in Alliance

ISSUE/QUESTION: Why does the Open Call button not return accurate results on a Service Order (i.e. once it’s been saved)? The Open Call button appears to only work in New Service Order (before WO is saved). The results displayed from a saved Service Order do not match what I see in Order Locator module. Is this the intended function?ENVIRONMENT: Alliance ProductAUDIENCE: Internal/ExternalRESOLUTION/ANSWER: Looking at the example provided, existing (saved) Service Order, a Product/Item was populated; Dispenser. The user then clicked Open Calls. The way Open Calls works is that it will not count the Service Order that you already have open when you click the Open Calls icon (assumes you know about that one). It will also filter by Product if populated. Therefore, on the Open Calls Lookup, click the down arrow to see all of the filters, in this scenario Product: Dispenser was a filter. Two records were displayed in the Open Calls Lookup, yet Order Locator showed 5 Open Calls fo

Two very handy modules in Alliance; Order Locator and Item Locator

There are two very handy modules in Alliance; one is Order Locator and the other is Item Locator. Order Locator can be used to find all orders whether in Service Order module or in Service Order History.Item Locator can be used to find all items whether in inventory, or installed at a customer site. Once you get familiar with these modules, you will most likely find yourself using them often, as they remove the guesswork when doing queries. Hope this helps!

Erase Employee Data in Employee Security module in Alliance

Within the Employee Security module in Alliance, there is a menu option Erase Employee Data. This option was added to support compliance for the European Union’s GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). According to the European Commission, personal data is any information relating to an individual whether it relates to his or her private, professional, or public life. It can be anything from a name, a home address, a photo, an email address, bank details, posts on social networking websites, medical information, or a computer’s IP address.This option removes employee’s data from all records in the system. Please be advised that it is a very heavy process and it should only run during the non-working hours as it affects many tables, etc.Other than situations where this is needed for GDPR, the general process is to simply set the employee to Inactive in the system.

Forbidden extension on attachment in service order.

ISSUE/QUESTION: Forbidden extension on attachment in service order. Need some help. Is there a way to allow this type of file; .xlsm, to be added in Alliance?ENVIRONMENT: Alliance productAUDIENCE: External/InternalRESOLUTION/ANSWER: Yes, but this will require access to the server. Provided you have permissions to the server, the file extension can be added via the Configuration Editor. Within Configuration Editor, go to Profiles, expand the profile, and select Globals. Look for AllowedFile Types and add the file type, i.e, .xlsm and then click Save XML settings.You should then be able to add files to the Service Order with this extension without receiving the forbidden extension error.

ISSUE/QUESTION: Why use Fast Purchase Requisition in Alliance?ENVIRONMENT: Alliance ProductAUDIENCE: External/InternalRESOLUTION/ANSWER: The Fast Purchase Requisition relates to a process invoked from sourcing, general queue and a few other logistic queues,It opens a one page popup that allows the user to generate a PR without the need to view and use the full module.It allows for faster PR entry from the queue, UI similar to creating the PR from the material posting in service order.From that point on the PR is identical to any other PR. it has a header & lines, needs to be approved and all other standard PR functionality.Also the Fast Purchase requisition creates a backorder demand and the Purchase requisition does not. If a user takes, for example, a service order material demand from a Warehouse to a Customer and selects the Purchase Requisition menu option, he needs just to specify a Vendor and as a result, the system creates a Drop Ship Purchase Requisition from the Vendor

Service Bulletin - Google Maps in Alliance Dispatch Console

Please see the attached Service Bulletin to learn more about changes with using Google Maps in the Alliance Dispatch Console.Google has informed us that with the release of Google v3.43, they will remove backward compatibility for Internet Explorer code in Google Maps APIs. Currently, the Dispatch Console uses code that relies on backward compatibility. Consequently, when v3.43 is released (we haven't received a date from them), users may experience a number of issues and receive error messages when using Google Maps in the Dispatch Console. We have started working on a solution. It's a complex matter and will take some time to develop. We will issue a release plan with due dates. In the meantime, please reference the attached PDF bulletin which describes the sorts of issues that you may face

ISSUE/QUESTION: Within Alliance Partner Portal, how can I remove or disable Cancel Order from the Orders drop-down?ENVIRONMENT: Alliance Partner PortalAUDIENCE: External / InternalRESOLUTION/ANSWER: You can accomplish this by following these steps:Go to Security Setup module. Click on the Employee Role, i.e. under Customer Roles, select Customer Portal – Standard(Self Service – Standard) Under Modules, search for ‘service’ and select Service Order (HTML5 Customer Portal) and then the bottom section Pages should display. On the Pages section, highlight the Service line and right click. The will open a window with the words ‘Custom Permissions’. Click on this box to open it. You will then see two icons under the blue banner ‘Custom permissions for page ‘Service’. Click on the first icon to Insert new permission. Another window will open ‘New Custom Permission’. In the Name field, enter CancelOrder (all one word), and in the Description field, enter Cancel Order – Actions Me
