was the original parts reserved and issued from the correct location?I have seen a couple of reasons you can't unissue parts when;1/ Original component was issued from stores and not the correct workshop/floor location (different authorization rules for different locations) the system tries to place the component back to the original issued location it came from and if you don't have authority to issue back to that location, it will error. even though you may have been able to issue the part.2/ If a Part certificate has been produced. Or the item has been sent out on a custoker order etc. Once this function has been actioned, then it can be near impossible to unissue parts.
I have found IFS allows the same serial number to be used across different part numbers. This can be confusing if only searching by serial number alone. This could potentially cause your system to have many of the serials if you have automatic serial switched on. You can reserve and put rules in place for serial parts - this is another option in IFS.You need to search on both the part number and serial to be specific, otherwise you will receive multiple results to sort through.
Be aware when once a Part has been set up as serialized and then received. You cannot turn off the serialization later for this part. IFS 10 version.Under the Part, you can switch from manual to automatic serial. Allowing you to either enter your own number or let IFS create one for you.
Yes, I believe a repair work order should be a possible avenue to swap out the correct serial parts. I think it will be easier to unpick the necessary parts and swap out the correct ones to match what the part certificate states. thanks for all your help :)
Within the shop order, we have an option to generate a part certificate, which in our case its a COC (certificate of conformance) to certify the build assembly or component has been built exactly to the designed engineering structure.Problem we have is, once this certificate has been generated. We can't back then unreceive this assembly/part. Whereas if this certificate has not been generated, then it is possible to unreceive the shop part and break it back down into inventory items. Usually when you purchase an electronic or electrical part or create a component for aircraft etc it comes with a COC type certificate, stating it has been made to an exacting design. This is same thing.
I have been able to execute this unreceive parts option if the shop order has not had a part certifcate generated (COC) , if it has then an error will stop this action going any further. If no part certificate has been generated then the parent part can be unreceived, and all child parts can be restocked back into inventory. :)
Still trying to execute the “unreceive shop order” function but getting an error “the receipt cannot be undone since the received quantity is no longer available on the location to which it was received.” Not sure how to overcome this problem. Any help would be amazing thanks. Using IFS 10 platform.
I have tried to execute the unreceive function within a reopened manufacturing shop order but will not allow a save because of error “the part serial catalog object is used by 1 row in another object (historical separate)” may have been because we tried to remove the serial part from the parent using a repair work order but couldn’t succeed.Another error when selecting a different lot within this shop order is “the part serial catalog ‘02’ is used by 1 row in another object (part certificate)”it’s like we need to remove the part certificate ?I am trying to change out the serial parts from a parent part built in the shop order. Thinking this unreceive and unissue function would return all parts back to inventory so I can start the build again.. thanks
