"IFS Enterprise Explorer is consuming lots of resources"

SInce upgrading to Apps 10 last year many users are receiving this warning message when  multiple screens  are open within the same session. 

 

IFS Enterprise Explorer is consuming lots of resources. This could be due to many IFS Enterprise Explorer windows opened and/or a too large Page Cache. Please close one or more of IFS Enterprise Explorer windows or lower the Page Cache size (Options dialog/Advanced).

 

We have tried clearing the online cache as well as decreasing the number of page caches to keep in memory but we still cannot seem to resolve this issue.

Was on the phone with the user when this happened, she was attempting to zoom into a field (she had 2 windows open) she was able to close the message, close 1 window of the 2 she had open and then was able to proceed. 

Once she had 2 windows open again she tried doing the exact same thing (zoom into the field) but this time no message; then with 3 windows open tried it again (zoom into the field) and still no message so my deduction is that the root cause may not be related to page cache .

Anyone in the community find a fix to this ?

Hi @MaggieDP,

This warning message is to prevent memory leaks which would lead to unresponsive behavior in the application. 

As a quick suggestion can you please try out below,

 When in the application click Alt and Please go to “Tools -> Option -> Advanced tab
Then,

  • Reduce the Number of Pages

From this option you could define maximum number of pages that IFS Applications will keep in memory. A higher value results in fast navigation back to previously viewed pages in the navigation history. A lower value reduces memory consumption. If there is an issue with higher memory consumption we could suggest this value to be reduced (around 5 pages).

If still the issue persist after above changes kindly check on the below steps.

  • Under Display section, untick both options

    - Use hardware accelerated graphics
    - Borderless window

    Click OK and restart the application.

If non of above worked ,you can try out below as well.

Follow below steps to clear the cache and then check whether the issue is still exist.

Make sure no IEE clients are running on the machine.

  • Open a command prompt or Windows Start > Run screen, execute the following command.
    rundll32 %windir%\system32\dfshim.dll CleanOnlineAppCache
  • Delete '2.0' folder where .net cache is stored under user’s Windows profile. In Windows 7/Windows 10, it is at C:\Users\<user_neme>\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0

    Restart the machine

Adding one more directory to delete in combination with what Charith has already mentioned:

C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\IsolatedStorage

Hello,

Is there any more info on this subject, we experience the same problem. Gave the user already an other computer, but he keeps crashing on “Out of memory”. Have configured only 5 pages and disabled both display options.

None of the options worked. Is this a bug in IFS? If so anyone received bug fix? Our users are also getting same error.

Same problem in our IFS9. Any new info?

We have two employee who have this problem several times a day. Other employees also have this problem, but very rarely. We can't figure out what's causing it. All suggestions in this thread have been checked by us. No success. We tried to find the cause with one of them (empl.) This one user has this problem even when working on another computer.

Also...

We tried on Win 7, 10 and 11.

We tried with other machine.

We tried reset user profile.  …. No success. :( Please Help.

We have the same issue. The user works in finance. How about the previous commenters, what part of IFS are you using?
