If you attended our Webinar: Upgrades and Path to Evergreen, here’s the Q&A. You can watch the webinar here, if you missed it!

Q: What is a CRIM?

A: Configurations, Reports, Integrations and Modifications

Q: Is it possible to upgrade to IFS 2020 R1 if you're not currently on Apps 10? What are the additional challenges, if any?

A: Yes, it’s possible to upgrade to IFS 2020 R1 from older versions of IFS, you do not specifically need to be on Apps 10 to upgrade to IFS 2020 R1.

Q: Is it true that under Extended Support, new fixes will only be provided for SEV1 and SEV2 bugs? So not all fixes are included.

A: Extended Support included SEV1-SEV4 fixes. Just like in standard support only the merging of SEV1-SEV2 are included. For merging a single patch for a SEV3-SEV4 a fixed price is charged. The customer may wait for the next update.  Although IFS may reduce the cadence of updates during extended support. Extended Support includes Severity 1 and 2 fixes.

Q: Dell Boomi's integration is going to be supported from APPS10 and upwards Or its only supported from IFS 2020 version?

A: There will be an IFS connector within the Boomi UI to make connections to your business system, services and data as easy as possible, delivered end of Q1 2020. This is not only for IFS 2020.

Q: Are updates available under Restricted Support?

A: No Updates are available under Restricted Support. (*Exception: Update17 will be available also in Restricted Support.)

Q: We are currently using IFS9 and looking to move to Evergreen with our next upgrade. Is this possible by upgrading to IFS10 or do we have to wait for IFS 2020.

A: Upgrading to IFS10 moves you onto the path to Evergreen. You will still need to move from IFS10 to IFS 2020 R1, however the process to do so will be more straightforward than previous upgrades.

Q: How hard would it be to upgrade when we do have custom mods?

A: If you have developed custom mods (via extensibility) these will all need testing during the upgrade itself and if underlying data structures have changed then the custom mods will need amending.

Q: We're on Apps 9 (went live April 2018). So looks like we need to upgrade already to avoid increased support costs? Clearly don't want to upgrade to Apps 10 only to have to upgrade to Evergreen. So presumably we're best sitting tight until we can go direct to Evergreen?

A: Answered above.

Q: Is IFS 2020 the same as Evergreen?

A: No, Evergreen is an ethos relating to keeping up to date in a systematic manner, you can be evergreen on APPS10.  But to remain Evergreen you will need a plan to adopt the latest version over time.  (within 23 months of each new release)

Q: Could you clarify that Evergreen is the last major upgrade? (I think this is what you're saying.)

Yes.

Q: Once IFS 2020 is released, is it still possible to upgrade from Apps 9 to Apps 10 (In order to maintain the EE client) - Or will IFS 2020 be the only update path?

A: Once IFS2020 is release, IFS would recommend upgrades directly to IFS2020 to remain on the evergreen path.

Q: If we do not apply an update in Evergreen within 23 months, what does this actually mean in a practical sense? Will the update be applied automatically at this point for example?

A: At IFS we have no plans to apply updates automatically without your consent, you will be given the choice.

Q: Are there significant functional differences between Apps 10 and IFS 2020?

A: The functional differences between the latest update of App10 and IFS2020 will be minimal. Specifically, we will be 100% Aurena in IFS2020, no Explorer.

Q: What is the last Update available for Apps9? Is there a final update planned before Standard Support ends?

A: Update 17 will be the last available Update in standard Support. Planned release date 2020-03-27.

Q: When a customer gets to IFS 2020, will all the upgrades for future IFS versions happen via updates?

A: Yes

Q: Who can buy Extended Support?

A: This can be bought by everybody

Q: Can you buy Extended Support for less than 1 year?

A: Yes, you can.
