The reason I ask is that Intrastat is used to collect and produce information on the transactions between two countries of the European Union (EU) so this is setup in the country form….

The region is a system defined value that is only used by the Intrastat functionality and only exists when in the specific country there are legal demands to report region code on Intrastat. Examples of such countries are Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic and France. Only regions specified by each country's responsible authority for Intrastat are defined in the system.

As mentioned by @Thilini Wijesinghe, the field, Region Code, is being used for the Intrastat functionality.

If your Inventory Part is created in a Site located in EU region (where it is mandatory to report Region Code), LoV of the Region Code contains regions specified by that country's responsible authority for Intrastat (ex: if the Site is in Germany, the LoV contains relevant regions within Germany)

When the Site is located outside EU region (where it is not mandatory to report Region Code), LoV of the Region Code is empty (ex: if the Site is in USA, the LoV is empty)

Hence, the system has added the regions that have been specified by each country's responsible authority for Intrastat, since only those regions will be used in Intrastat functionality. Therefore, there is no basic setup linked for users to manually add additional Region Codes by themselves.

Intrastat is a system for collecting statistics on the trade in goods between the between the EU Member States. All EU members must report exported and imported parts to and from other EU countries every month. The authorities use the information for their statistics follow-up. To be able to create this report, the correct information must be selected from the system once a month. IFS has the functionality to support Intrastat reporting. For certain countries, it is mandatory to report Region Code on Intrastat.
