We have come across the above requirement from our recent customers implementing IFS Cloud. The requirement in detail is the ability to add Authorization Type = Position into Authorization Groups and not just individual authorizers as per the current functionality. Although IFS has the ability to incorporate positions into purchase authorization, in the current functionality, a position is only possible to be included in an Authorization Routing Template as a Step where only that position is able to be added but not several within one Step.
The reasons for this requirement are that,
- The maintenance cost of Authorization Groups with individuals is high specially when it comes to a large organization with many divisions/departments with many personnel with authority to approve purchases. Whenever a person leaves or joins the company, the relevant groups need to be updated.
- Several different positions should be eligible to authorize the purchase and not one. Ex: Either any Supervisor or any Superintendent should be able to authorize a PR that is less that 3000AUD.
We have been able to get some of the customers to simplify their authorization matrix and use Authorization Groups but the bigger the company the harder it is to simplify their authorization matrix.
Therefore, thought of starting this conversation to see if any other consultants/customers have come across the same/similar situations and see how feasible it would be to present this to IFS as an Idea for future development.
