The combination of Inventory Part Cost Level by Cost per Lot batch with serial tracking "not in stock" is not permitted and is displayed with an error message in the dialogue. Saving is not possible.
We do not understand the reason for this restriction and would like to ask whether this was also required in other projects and how it was handled.

Thx and best regards

When Inventory Part Cost Level is Cost per Lot Track, the inventory part should be lot tracking enabled as the cost will be calculated based on the lot batch. If you’re using serial tracked parts why can’t you use cost per serial?

Hi @BytAlberG,

Good question indeed. I think, this validation should exists. If the parts are Inventory not tracked serials, we must identify serials when receipt and issue. Suppose, we are using Cost per Lot/Batch here and we try to move an identified lot to another company.. Before moving we have to identify which serials are in it. We can get some serials from another lot that has different price tag. So, what is the price tag for the lot that is going to move. There may be other reasons for this kind of validation,

Piyal

Hi Rasika,

the customer does not want to to hoave cost per individual serial numbers, but the batch produced, which just happens to still have serial numbers. The focus is on the batch, not the serial number. Also, not every serial number should be visible in the inventory.
