A customer is having an issue with Automatic Putaway for Inventory held in a Handling Unit. Using IFS  Apps 10. 

Automatic Refill is selected on the Warehouse. Stock is sitting in a HU in an Inventory Location that isn’t part of the Putaway Zone set up on the Part. Background Job is being generated to auto refill but no Transport Task is being generated (no message on the background job but assume due to the same issue as noted in the next paragraph). 

When manually trying to Perform Putaway on the IPIS screen, an information message is confirming that no putaway location could be found for the stock being held in the current location. 

However, when manually Performing Putaway on the Handling Units in Stock screen for the same stock, a Transport Task is being successfully generated and all details are correct.

What is the reason that the auto-refill is not successfully generating? Surely Auto Refill of Putaway Zones will work with Stock held in Handling Units? There is nothing in IFS Help to suggest that this is limited to stock not held in HUs.

Hi @CooAlastL ,

   I carefully read your description and belive that probably the putaway logic is being executed as expected. Without knowing exact data setup, unable to explain further on this.

Please note that the application is not running the Putaway logic in context of any handling unit ID when it is being started from “Inventory Parts In Stock”. So, please don’t think in HU context when you are executing it from IPIS. Its execute in inventory context.

If you execute the same from Handling Units in Stock, then you can get the functionality that you are expecting.

Hi @Piyal Perera . Thanks for responding. I am aware that the HU In Stock screen can be used to perform a Putaway involving Handling Units. This part is fine. However can Automatic Putaway functionality be used when Handling Units are being used? There is nothing in F1 Help to explicitly state that Automatic Putaway Functionality (set at Warehouse level - not done via IPIS or HU In Stock) does not work when Handling Units are being used. Setting on Warehouse as shown below.

    Please follow “About Inventory Putaway” documentation. Everything is nicely explained in that Help doc. I can’t exactly follow your latest question without getting more information about the data setup and the result. For your question - “can Automatic Putaway functionality be used when Handling Units are being used?” - Yes it should be possible. HU is just packing of set of inventory parts.

I will have a thorough read and try some set up to facilitate this. However, the last statement in the About Inventory Putaway documentation states;

“The storage optimization and refill logic does not consider handling units, only the putaway logic considers handling units.”

This leads me to think that auto refill will not work for handling units, but will when triggered during Putaway (performed for example during the PO Receipt process or via the IPIS or HU in Stock screens). @Fgray09
