The issues occurs when a Work order is transferred to mobile from IEE , It creates 2 work assignments instead of the one . This  happens even when a resource is allocated initially and a work assignment is created and when its transferred to mobile it automatically creates a another work assignment .

The issue is only present for a single resource group in the customer environment and from this resource group one user is not effected with the mentioned issue .

Below is the test plan for the following issue :

  • Create Work order
  • Add a Work task

  • Add resource and create work assignment
  • Transfer work task to mobile
As you can see here, after transferring the work task to mobile , another work assignment is created . There the initial work assignment of 8hr is split into two 4hr work assignments

Initially the maintenance  team has checked the basic data and has verified that they are correct.

And during investigation I have checked the Mobile_work_Order_API.Generate_Wo_To_Mobile function which is used to transfer the work task to mobile and is unable to pin point a condition used to split the work assignment into two (create another work assignment )

Hi

Assume that this is related to the flag Allow Multiple Visits on your task and a defined lunch break for your resource. When the duration is longer than a “free space” for the resource it will then create multiple assignments.

Frank

HI @Frank Sveen

Could you instruct me where/How I can check if there is a defined lunch break in the work task

Cheers,

Hi @ChankaWimalasooriya

Frank is correct, this is due to the lunch break on the resource schedule.

Go in to the Resource Individuals page and search for the resourse.

If connected to a Calendar ID go to that calendar and from there go to the schedule connected to calendar - from there you should see that there are a planned lunch hour on the schedule.

If not using Calendar ID but using HR Schedule instead, then you need to go to that schedule and see the working hours on a day.

Hi @Frank Sveen  and @Thommy

Thank you for the help , Removing the lunch break fixed the splitting issue . To ask a follow up question,  the customer requires to have lunch break . how should we do the setup if we were to keep the lunch break and not have the work assignment to be split . also if they have a job that takes up longer than a normal work day and goes into over time . is there a possible setup we can use to stop the assignments from splitting .

Chanaka

I would start to untick Allow Multiple Visits on the Work Tasks you are testing.

If this gives you the expected result there is a parameter for Allow Multiple Visits per site in Application Base Setup/Enterprise/Site - Maintenance

This parameter defines the default value used for the Allow Multiple Visit field when creating a new work task on the site. The work task field can be changed, if required, for each work task.

By unticking this on your test site new work tasks will be created with the Allow Multiple Visits unticked.
