We are exploring the use of the service quotation functionality. One of the fields we wish to populate is the ‘Co-ordinator’.
I understand we could use templates to set this to a specific value for each base profile. Is there a way we c an use templates, so that when the user creating a service quote creates a new record, the co-ordinator field is populate d with themselves as the co-ordinator.

In General, you can use your user as the default coordinator in Application Base Setup\Enterprise\Site\Sites per User - The default coordinator entered here will be used as the coordinator in the service quotation.
For example the logged in user is A, The default coordinator entered in sites per user window for user A is coordinator A - Then when user A logs and creates a service quotation, the coordinator will be fetched as A.
And of course you can use templates as well.
