Hello,

We are on Apps 10 and recently we have UPD 7 deployed in our system.

We noticed that in ISO Code Usage - Country  screen country code * Removed By IFS.

Does anyone knows about this, why it’s being removed?

Thank you.

Hi @DIPAKPATEL ,

The reason the country code “*” disappeared for you is due to a combination of changes that has been done during the years.

From the beginning, ISO Country codes could not be added by customers. In my opinion, it was a good restriction. If it is *really* an ISO Country code (there is a standard for country codes in ISO), it should be there when the system is installed and updated, and it is a very strange thing to allow adding ISO Country codes that are not… ISO Country codes.

So, in order to keep things fresh, in every upgrade we would first set all codes to obsolete, marking them by setting the Description to “*”. Then we would add all currently active ISO Country codes that are not there and which should be there (we check for changes in the standard regularly). In the end we would remove obsolete ones that was marked with “*” in the Description field.

At any rate, some years back we made it possible for customers to add their own records here. Then this “remove obsolete” logic suddenly caused problems. It is what you see here. You probably have set the description of your “*” country code to “*” as well. This means it will be removed when you upgrade/update the system.

The fix should be simple, for you. Check the Used In Application check box on your country record. In that way, the upgrade/update script will leave it alone.

I hope this will resolve your issue.

By the way, why do you have a country code “*” and what do you use it for? It can be good for us to understand how customers work.

Thanks!

/Mathias
