Hi there,

It was brought to my attention today that a customer wanted us to send them an attachment that was added to a request. This attachment is a *.atp file type which relates to some test equipment. The app to open this type is not available to the FSM Smart Client end user.

How can we save/recover a Request attachment that cannot be opened with a standard app?

This is on FSM 5.7.2 and also looked at FSM6u8.

Many thanks,

Hi @AngeloPav,

You should be able to add files in with different extensions as long as they are not in the app param for file extension black list.

What occurs when you try to upload a file extension with one of these extensions? Is there an error or message? Or does the error only occur when trying to retrieve the file?

Kind regards,

Hi AngeloPav,

FSM normally opens the file if the Supporting software is installed to view the file unless it will bring the message "How do you want to Open the message" to select the software or get it from the MS store.
If you cannot open the file even if the relevant app is available then it could be a problem either with the file or the app but not with FSM. Try opening a similar file saved in your PC to see whether the issue is with the app unless the problem could be with the file.
You cannot directly save the file to PC from the FSM attachment screen if that is Stored in DB without opening it. Try opening the same file in a different PC to see whether its a problem with the file somehow you need to get it opened to save the file.

Regards.
