PMRP Project spares by activity sequence?

Hello,

I work with IFS 10 and have run into sort of a systematic issue. We use PMRP (Project MRP). The issue is with spare parts calculation and engineering changes. Here is an example:

Let’s say we have a parent say Part A and it needs 10 of Part D. Our system will apply a 30% spares to this requirement. So total demand is for 13.

Then one day engineering has developed their designs further and determined parent Part A needs sub-assembly Part B and sub-assembly Part C. Both sub assemblies Part B and C will require Part D of 5 each.

So the system will apply 30% to each individual demand of 5. 30% of 5 is 1.5 and the system will round up to 2. So total parts will be 14 instead of 13. Our intention is to order 13 of Part D.

This is a simple example but obviously applying this to hundreds and thousands parts we buy you can see that it causes a lot of excess buying.

Is there a way to apply sparing to say cumulative demand by part? Preferably by activity sequence?

Thank you in advance.

Try adjusting the “Qty Calc rounding” to 1. This means the part will be considered to a 1-decimal point at the calculations. So 1.5 won’t round up to 2.

This can be updated in the “Inventory Part” window.
