Reserve/Issue Material to Shop order from Specific Location

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to reserve or issue shop orders from a specific inventory location? For example Shop Order 11111 has all required materials at Location SO11111, but we don’t want to issue or reserve the same materials in other Inventory Locations.

For the relevant Work Center on shop order 11111:

  • Set the Outside Reserve/Backflush to Not Allowed
  • Set Location SO11111 as an Inbound location and leave the Shared Location setting as OFF.

On the shop order (and product structure), connect the materials to the operation for this Work Center.

When auto-issue or auto-reserve is performed, materials will only be issued/reserved from location SO11111.

 

Outside Reserve/Backflush

  • The value determines  how the reserve/backflush of material is allowed from locations other than the work center inbound locations. Possible values are:
    • Reserve Allowed - Possible to reserve outside the inbound locations, but backflush is not allowed unless reserved.
    • Backflush Allowed - Possible to backflush from other locations, but reservations will be done only from inbound locations.
    • Reserve and Backflush Allowed - Possible to reserve and backflush from other locations.
    • Not Allowed - Not possible to reserve or backflush from other locations.

Shared Location

  • This field indicates if, material can be reserved/issued to any demand. If it is not enabled, only the material demands from operations that are connected to the work center will be allowed to reserve/issue material from this location. This will only affect the automatic reservations/issues not the manual actions.
