Hi,

In our current process, we reserve materials in the warehouse (picking locations). The warehouse worker moves those reserved goods to the production floor with a transport task (which is inside a warehouse task). The operator issues the materials and starts the shop order clocking.

We want to make sure that the operator can only issue after the warehouse worker has finished the warehouse task. So he should only be able to issue from the inbound or specified locations (not from the picking locations).

Is this possible?

How is the operator issuing the materials? Is it done though the automatic issue option, or using manual issue (where quantity and exact stock record is selected)?

Automatic, only reserved materials

Okay, that would be the same as backflush. I think you then can set the Outside Reserve/Backflush to Reserve Allowed on the work center of the operation which to the material is connected. Then system will only issue material from the locations defined as inbound to the work center.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, however this doesn’t the trick. I can still issue if the material is reserved on a non-inbound location.

Hi @First Employee ,

Would you try using the option Not Allowed in Outside Reserve/Backflush of the work center so that  only material from inbound location are issued.

Okay, then I don’t think there’s any setting that can prevent an already reserved material line from being issued.

Is it necessary to reserve the material before it is being issued?

Hi,

This prevents also auto reservations outside the inbound centers :(

This is the current proces: We reserve automatically, from stock in our warehouse. Warehouse team uses transport task to move those reserved materials to the shop floor. We do it this way because we use many parts per shop orders: this way we can easily create a task per shop order.

Parts are moved to the shop floor some time before the SO is started. We want to issue right before starting the SO, to have correct WIP numbers.

Best regards!

Hi @First Employee ,

How did you manage to solve this case? We have encountered the same problem.

We need to reserve the material in a picking location but only be able to issue from the inbound location.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best Regards!

@First Employee

@IPEREZ

likewise , have a very similar situation, did any of you find a solution on this ?

Kind Regards,
Alex

Dear Gentlemen,

I agree with @Björn Hultgren there is no standard option to prevent reserved material line from being issued.

Option is there to force both reservation and issuance from Shop Floor location only.

Though, through Custom Event required checks can be configured on Shop Order material line status.

Seems that the Shared Location setting on the work center inbound location should be able to restrict the auto issuing but it does not. I will not get into the details of the setup, but for this component tied to an operation in a work center with only one location (inbound) which is not shared, the system will auto-issue from the picking location (hierarchy 5) if the material is reserved here even though ‘Issue Allowed’ says NO.

@matt.watters @Abdul Thanks for your fast responses!!,

I believe the main problem lies in the fact that the warehouse task can only be triggered through the reservation from the shop order. There should be an option to separate the transfer process. Currently, users have to initiate the transport task from reservations originating from the WC.

If we had the ability to perform a transfer per shop order without having to reserve through the shop order, all WC could remain properly set for picking only at the shop floor level. This would ensure that no one accidentally reserves or picks from an external storage area.

Do you have any idea how this behaviour could be achieved outside from the standard process?

Many Thanks

Alex

Hi @InnAlexaM,

You can configure a custom event for Inventory Transaction History tab to ensure BACFLUSH and SOISS transaction should be allowed for Floor Stock type location only.
