Is it possible to kill a serial number in IFS? (Remove it from IFS completely)

Only the top level manufactured part number is serialized in our system. (Lot/Batch tracking is not on, and no components used in the product structure are serialized) The serial number was built through a shop order. We have capabilities to scrap the unit or rename the unit, but we’d like to remove it from IFS completely.

@mlomax for the benefit of anyone searching the topic “removing or deleting  part serials”:

  1. Ensure that the serialized part is moved to the default reporting location or the location it was reported to in the shop order.
  2. If the shop order is closed, change the status to open/started. RMB in the shop order window > Shop Order Status > Open.
  3. Manually unreceive the serial. RMB on the shop order window > Receive > Manual Unreceive.
  4. In the manual unreceive window, enter the quantity 1 for the serial you want to remove/delete/kill.
  5. Save.

The Part serial record will automatically be removed. This was not tested exhaustively for all serial statuses, or transactions that have happened to the serial, but it worked for units that did not leave the site in a transfer or customer order.

Wow! That works perfectly, thanks for the help!
