When receiving a by product of repair type shop order we don't need to issue any material and can be received the by product after releasing the shop order. Is this the standard behavior or any reason for this?

Hi;

Its the same for Manufacturing Type Shop Order too.

For Receiving by Products, there is no relation to component parts or operations.

So it can be received after Releasing the Shop Order.

A by-product is supposed to be an incidental secondary part derived from the manufacturing or repair process such as metal shavings. Since it typically is produced during the production/repair process you might want to receive it to stock before reporting the completion of the operation, meaning the material consumed during the operation may not have been backflushed yet. So restricting by-products receiving until some material would be issued I believe would create problems for certain processes. This is the same for both Manufacturing and Repair shop orders.
