MS Level 0, MS Level 1, Sales and Operational Planning
Can someone please explain how MS Level 0 and "Sales and Operational Planning" interact with each other . I found an option to export the forecast to MS Level 0 . What is the purpose of this ?.
This is to disaggregate the forecast to connected MS level 1 Parts and to plan the actual Manufacturing/Purchasing? If this is the case what is the point of importing the Demand Planner Forecast ?
Or to simply Calculate the RRP load ?
How the operational plan affects the actual Manufacturing/Purchasing?

Hello community ,
Any update?

Hi Champika,
First, our Sales & Operations Planning solution is not dependent on that you use Master Scheduling, neither MS Level 0 nor MS Level 1. You could use our Planning Structures without using MS Level 0. Could be good to keep that in mind.
However you get more input into S&OP if you use Master Scheduling. (and output) For example you get good comparison between the Operation Plan (on product family level) with the aggregated MPS from MS Level 1, in the S&OP Grid tab.
When we implemented S&OP, we thought we must be able to push down the operations plan to the MS Level 1 Items, using the planning structure, but we realized that we would overwrite “fine tuned MPS” that master scheduler has for example developed for new products. Still we have this on our future radar.
To your question:
From an end user perspective:
“We simply export the consensus forecast plan, as we in the S&OP team have developed, to MS Level 0 and from there we can dis-aggregate that forecast to MS Level 1.”
Perhaps there could be an option to by-pass MS Level 0, and export forecast from S&OP direct to MS Level 1.
Best Regards,
Mats
Dear Mats,
Thank you very much for the reply. Currently my customer uses Demand Planner to import forecast into MS Level 1 and therefore I believe we should not export the S&OP forecast to MS Level 0 and then disaggregate to MS Level 1 (MS Set 1) as this could create a totally different forecast as the disaggregate function uses the Planning Structure.
Do you have any detailed document that explain about the S&OP? Do we intend use the New Operations Plan in Production Planning? I could not find any option to Export the Operation Plan into MS Level 0 , the only option I found was to export the forecast. Are we supposed to change the Sales Forecast based on the agreed Operation Plan and then export the forecast so that production plan is in line with the Operation Plan ?

Hi again Champika,
I agree with you - in the customer case they should not disaggregate forecast from S&OP/MS Level 0 to MS Level 1, since they are using Demand Planner import into MS Level 1.
In a setup like that, they can use the command Copy SOP Family, to import forecast and the MPS FROM MS LEVEL 1 to the product family in S&OP.
System is using the Planning BOM to find the connected MS Level 1 parts and then it updates the Forecast and Operations Plan in S&OP. The aggregated volumes is a good starting point for S&OP meetings and it can be used as input for resource planning (RRP). I mean to evaluate the overall supply plan.
Well you can run RRP, using MS Level 1 data as well.
