Will there always be MRP make entries in MRP Part Information and Inventory Part Availability Planning for phantom parts? I guess they are needed for the correct explosion of demands to the next level, but users think it is confusing since they will not create any shop order requisitions.

@KennethP For Phantom parts (Planning Method = P), as I understood your question, demand information will be created to calculate the demands. However you see no supplies created for those. This happens MRP is trying to consume the On Hand inventory for Planning Method P parts before the demand is passed to the next level.

Planning Method K on the other than transfer the demand directly to the below levels. However it is not possible to maintain On Hand quantity for Planning Method K parts. This might solve your problem, but it depends on the solution. So please check if it suites to your needs.

Hejsan Kenneth,

Yes, those MRP make entries are needed for the MRP explosion itself. They become the link between the parent of the P-part and the components of the P-Part.

You have to live with it.

Mats

Hejsan Mats and Hi Buddhika,

Thank you for your replies - I suspected we have to live with it, but feel better getting it from the experts :-)

Btw for some reason we have used P consistently, but at least for those we tried it is difficult to move to K because of the restrictions in the business logic (when you have been running for a long time, all sorts of things have happened in the past).

Best regards,

Kenneth
