Hi team,

We have an MRO who receives the engine for repair and, while disassembling it, sometimes determines that engine is beyond economical repair and, therefore, will strip the items to stock.

This will require labor, tools, and the costs involved in disassembly/disposition operations. CRO was created for those items and performed repairs if parts could be repaired.

The output of this is that we end up with 10 to 20 parts in stock that are in a serviceable condition that equals the value of the labor, parts, and capital.

When performing stripping down the engine and sending items to stock, the assembly side of the Complex assembly MRO work order does not need to be completed. (Only disassembly SO are closing)

Can we do this in IFS App10 so we can close CAMRO without completing the assembly section of a work order?

What is the most convenient way to perform this strip down to stock using complex assembly work orders?

Thank you!

It’s not possible to close a MRO work scope without processing Assembly orders.

Hi,

Stripping of the serviceable items to stock could be performed via a disposition shop order; disposition to stock (via a disposition code) after performing disassembly process.

However, currently in IFS applications it is not possible to close the MRO work scope without completing the assembly shop orders.

Considering the fact I have put this is IFS community Idea wall - MRO process – Strip complex assembly to stock | IFS Community

@XitThilaB It is possible with few conditions.
You could disassemble and put the parts in inventory without creating demand in ASOs using disposition codes in DSOs.
Also, You could have custom events to remove all operations and materials for all assembly shop orders in such cases.
However, you have to use one dummy part number with zero cost to process the ASO. Further, at the end, you have to scrap the received engine in system as well.
Hope this helps.
I have seen this requirement from few other customers as well and some are doing the above suggested solution also. However, using dummy part in ASO should support with audit and inventory count perspective as well.

Can we define a new work type, like Downgradation with a corresponding Job plan in which the inventory transfer take place?
