Trying to set up ZPL printer in IFS, and follow a poster to set up in Application Server Task, but I cannot see job type “PrintAgent” in Job type drop down list.

 

question:

  1. why we cannot see this PrintAgent job type? 
  2. if we need to install Print Agent, where to install? IFS application server or end user client?
  3. should PrintAgent is mandatory? our company seems like never install PrintAgent before, we still can print report via network printer.

Hi @ronhu,

Assuming this is for IFSAPP10.

  1. If what you are trying to setup is a Report Formatter, you should find the default Report Formatter under Setup IFS Connect in the navigator. 

     

  2. Neither the application server nor a client machine would be a good option. Ideally, a Print Agent should be installed on a utility server that is on the same network as the actual physical printers. The Print Agent host should have access to physical printers.

    For ZPL printing, please refer to the Socket Spooler section, specifically.
