We have ongoing issues with the time it takes for the apps to complete the syncs in the morning. We have most of our syncs done overnight as recommended by IFS with only information that needs to be pushed in the day going out in the day.

Does anyone know how the syncs should behave? Should the application read / process the out messages when the devices are locked?

Is it normal behaviour that the Sync only happens when the application is in use? Or should the tablets be triggered to run in the background when messages are sent?

Thanks,

What OS are you running MWO on? Android, iOS or Windows?

When messages are added to the Out Message table in the server a “you have data” type push notification message is sent to the device which attempts to wake the app up and sync the data. If the OS has closed the app in the background then its not possible to wake the app up. When the user re-opens the app in the morning the app will start to sync with the server and download the data.

Cheers

James

Thanks @James Ashmore. That makes sense. We are currently running on Android.

We are just trying to find a way to limit the sync times for the Engineers in the morning as they are all finding it struggles in the morning to process the backlog of messages.
