Hello Community,

I want to ask about this statement in IFS docs?

Here is the link - https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/23r2/010_overview/020_high_level_architecture/

What are all the reasons behind this? Why build place must (or should?) not contain customer production data?

Is it because of the data protection laws of the various countries? If yes, then how IFS manages this on use place environments like CFG, UAT which are sometimes accessible by consultants residing in different countries.

Thanks in advance.

@Rohit I think this comes from the old days when instead of the BuildPlace there was the Dev and BnT environment which was not owned by the customer, but by IFS directly.

With the IFS Cloud Builplace being owned and in full control of the customer I wouldn’t see why there should be no real data. Maybe someone from IFS could shed some light on this.

In the meantime you can read the below post about Old Dev and Buildplace:

@Marcel.Ausan  Thing is that the Build place is still fully owned/operated (hosted) by IFS so its still exactly the same as before.

IFS does not want to take the risk that customer data gets exposed via a Dev environment. As the security setup etc is different (having db sys pwds etc). I thought it was something with audit and data protection.

So only option to me is setup your own Dev environment on your own hosting and ask for a backup from IFS when you need to debug certain issues related to your customer data.
