I am trying to organize a dropdown of basic data alphabetically rather then the sequential number given by IFS. I see there is a sortable selection under page designer but it doesn’t seem to do anything. The end game is to get contact roles organized alphabetically. Any help would be appreciated.

Try using sortable option in Description filed instead Role.
I tried the same thing and it is working fine.

I believe your objective is to get LOV field which fetch contact roles, to be organized alphabetically. In that case, i’m sorry as per current design, you will not be able to fulfill this requirement, and when it comes to LOVs as follows, there is no option to manually sort too.
